Its taken 50 years for Carole King to make a Christmas album-thats if you start her career at 1961
Really a collection of cover versions-previously she'd only covered herself or made demos of other Brill Building writers.
Not all the songs are obvious Christmas ones-My Favorite Things and I've got my love to keep me warm are by Rodgers & Hammerstein and Irving Berlin
CD is produced by her daughter Louise Goffin who wrote 2 of the songs and a selection of thumbprints inside

Carole clearly spent a lot of time thinking about this album. She focuses on the festive side of Christmas but avoids all the obvious songs, yet the end result is an album containing songs that most people are familiar with.

The familiar songs are My Favorite Things, Carol of the Bells, Sleigh Ride, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm and Do You Hear What I Hear, all of which sometimes appear on Christmas albums but not as frequently as a few others I can think of. Yes, I love those other songs too, but I enjoy Carole's choices too.

There are three original songs that were co-written by her daughter Louse Goffin (Christmas Paradise, Christmas in the air, New Year's Day), two Christmas soul classics (Everyday Will Be Like a Holiday, This Christmas) and the rarely heard traditional Chanukah Prayer, all of them excellent.

I'm so pleased that Carole finally got round to recording a Christmas album. It's a classic.

wonderful Christmas record from a superstar. Carole King must be one of the most under-rated songwriter/artists ever. Loved her 'Tapestry' album in early 70's and love this.

Have followed Carole King since early 70's so am a great fan... but this one doesn't quite work out too good. Feels a bit thrown togeter with a mix of styles...some songs are nice, some unusual, but some very plain and sound a bit lazily arranged and produced with no heart put into the singing. I know its a 'Christmas' album but still should be up to the mark so a bit disappointing. sorry...
