Product Description

'I find it rather exciting joining a new set of chambers, like starting a new school term...'

5 Caper Court is changing. The chambers are expanding. But will the arrival of a fresh group of tenants inspire a new start for everyone?

Just out of yet another scandal, electrifying and libidinous Leo Davis has finally decided to settle down. He's going to sell up his Belgravia pad and buy a family home for his son, Oliver. And he's going to marry the lovely Camilla. Or is he? With Camilla working on a case halfway across the world, Leo is not so sure...

Adriana, the stunning, glamorous and extremely wealthy owner of a multi-million pound Greek shipping line, has elected Leo as her lawyer. She knows he can win her case. Insatiable Adriana always gets what she wants and she is about to make Leo an offer he'll find hard to refuse.

As the City steams in the sweltering August heatwave, temptation begins to ensnare the inhabitants of 5 Caper Court. The question is, who will fall captive to whose charms and who will be able to resist?

Honestly ... 19 May 2004
Format:Paperback
I was excited when I heard this new book was out having been totally caught up with the lovely Leo - you felt like you knew him personally.
Overall the book was good, although whilst the intial focus is supposedly on the new tenants of Caper Court they don't play a huge role in the book.
Towards the end I could not put it down, just wanting to turn page, after page ... so caught up again with Leo and his antics. However, the final chapter came to a close BANG and to be honest I felt let down. Maybe Caro Fraser has done this on purpose to leave the door open for the saga to continue but the ending was diappointing particulary given the climax a few pages before.
Worth a read, but not outstanding.

This book is part of a series, but despite that it is clearly written with just the right amount of explanation about the characters who have appeared before. I also liked the author's style - she is not afraid to use words of more than two syllables. However, there is far too much about the personal lives of the characters, jumping from one group to another instead of an interwoven plot. The most interesting part of the book concerns the professional life of the protagonist, and this is skilfully interwoven with his personal life; if all of the book had been up to this standard it would have been a better book than it actually is. Another problem is that although the author is convincing in rendering life in chambers, the subplot involving drugs is not. This is only a moderately good read.

Last book, so far, in the Caper Court series - loved them all and was thrilled to hear from Caro Fraser when I emailed her, that she is in the process of writing another - can't wait!
