Korean romantic comedy. Keum-sook (Hyo-jin Kong) and Eun-hee (Eun-ji Jo) have been devoted to one another in every way since they were school girls, when Kuem-sook used her formidable Tai Kwon Do skills to protect her from school bullies. But eventually everything changes as Kuem-sook is imprisoned for protecting her friend and Eun-hee finds herself alone and pregnant. I first saw this film as a hire from Blockbuster's international shelf. It was such a delight, and so cheap on Amazon, that I bought it and by now I've watched it maybe 10 times in all. I love the insight into modern Korean society; the clever narrative technique that peals back layers of understanding one by one as the film progresses; the very cute actors and actresses; and the humour that the film extracts from sex. I love the little-girl whiney voice that the heroine has as she bullies her way through life. I love this film.
