3.0 out of 5 stars Travis and Abby deserved more 14 Dec 2013
By Nicola_1202 TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Buying this was a no brainer, I love Travis Maddox and always have time for him. But I have to be honest and say I don't feel that Jamie McGuire has done one of my favourite couples any justice with this book. They deserved so more and she has lessened the wonderful love story she brought us in both Beautiful and Walking Disaster.

Told from both Travis and Abby's POV's, it is touching on Travis' part. But I'm trying to work out just how I feel about why Abby wanted to marry Travis. I have always loved Pidge and it's just not sitting right with me but I'm trying to go with the young and impulsive angle as my reasoning. New revelations added potential depth with consequences. Or so I thought until I reached the latter chapters and what could've made this book a winner for me was simply skirted around (the cynic in me can't help but think that somewhere down the line we are going to get another novella to fill the void).

The potential was there for a much more detailed story and if anything a full third book could've have come from this. As much as I love Travis and Abby's journey, if we were getting more it needed to be tied up completely and I just don't feel it got the justice it deserved or leaves the reader with a sense of total satisfaction.

2.0 out of 5 stars STOP!! 13 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Make sure you realise this is just a VERY short novella before buying. After learning there was a new book in the series I hastily found it on amazon and just hit pre-order without knowing that. Now I feel ripped off for spending a few pounds to just read a very slightly, more in depth version of the ending of the other books, where they get married. That is ALL that happens here. I was so excited as I was reading it, imagining the thrilling story that might lay ahead after they get married.... But then that was it. It definitely wasn't worth my time or money, and after all the plots I started to come up with, I know JM could have given us a whole new book to read. I do feel ripped off and can imagine her laughing all the way to the bank because of us fools all over-paying for these few short pages!

1.0 out of 5 stars yawn 23 Jan 2014
By me

Wedding, drivel and realistically the last x2 chapters of walking disaster rewritten - save your time and just reread walking disaster. I really wish I had listened to everyone else and not waisted my money or the 1 hour it took to read this book - yes it really is that short!!

A Beautiful Wedding by Jamie McGuire reunites us with Travis Maddox and Abby Abernathy.

We join them as they embark on their journey to Las Vegas for their impromptu wedding. What drove them to this point? Why was Abby the one to ask? What will the future hold for them?

You will, I have no doubt, have read Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster before embarking on this novella. Both of those stories were amazing, and there have only been a few select others that have, for me, been as gripping and as everlasting as those two.

That's why it's with reluctance that I write this review of A Beautiful Wedding.

I didn't ask too many questions as to why Travis and Abby wanted to get married so quickly. It didn't occur to me that Abby was trying desperately to save Travis from being arrested and possibly sent to prison for his part in the fire. I was happy with the stories as they were; they had their happy ending and that's all I wanted.

I feel A Beautiful Wedding may have thrown up more questions for me than it actually answered, and also, dare I say, cheapened their reasons for marrying?

Travis is absolutely 100% in love with Abby, and his reasons for wanting her to be his wife are based purely on this fact and nothing else.

Although I can understand Abby's way of thinking, and wanting to save Travis from potential prison is admirable, but to decide to propose marriage based on this, makes their wedding less exciting for me now.

Yes, the fire at Keaton Hall was devastating and life changing, and someone should be held responsible. Abby's plan to save Travis from a life behind bars appears to have worked, and they are questioned upon their return from Las Vegas, but no further action is taken.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing 12 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was really looking forward to reading this, Im a huge fan of the first two books and Travis is a brilliant book boyfriend but I actually struggled to finish this one. The writing somehow seemed different and it didnt read for me like the first two books did, for some reason I couldnt connect to the characters. I think it kind of ruined the storyline for me as my whole view on Abby changed. Travis is 100% in love with her but I was left questioning her motives for marrying him and it spoilt how I saw their marriage. I think the story should have been left at Walking Disaster, I loved Travis' point of view, I loved that they had married and were in love but this novella has left me wishing I had not read it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Expected so much more 11 Mar 2014
By Deborah
Format:Kindle Edition
I absolutely loved Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster so when I heard about this book I was excited to say the least but then I noticed the price 3.49 for only 160 pages which concerned me, not the price as such but more the fact that the previous books were over 400 pages each offering not only good value for money but a long enough story to really get lost in. I was worried this was a money making book, a sure thing considering the popularity of the previous two so I held off and then the reviews appeared, a mixed bag.
Anyway I finally got round to reading it and while it was good to get back in touch with Travis and Abby I didn't feel this book was good value for money and I prefer to think of their wedding as a romantic occasion between two young people so much in love. It had some good moments but not enough, I expected more.
