Balloon for Grandad 12 July 2005
Format:Paperback
A beautiful book which is especially useful for children who live apart from relatives and miss them. The whole concept of watching balloons floating high and away and knowing that they are on their way to new places is very magical for children.
Enjoy!

I work in school with groups of children helping to extend their emotional literacy. This book helped them appreciate that although a loved one was far away they could still be in their hearts and minds ( and vice versa ).

I bought this book for a child who is mixed-race English/Arabic, so it seemed perfect. On the child's level, I think it works fine, but for mixed-race parents the story seems a bit self-conscious and 'right-on'. I don't think that would spoil the child's enjoyment of the story. You just might feel a bit patronised if you are the parent!
