It most successfully brings together, into a manageable compass, much of the empirical ballistics material which is so widely dispersed. -- Dr. A B Bailey

Out of professional need as a manufacturer of rifle barrels, Geoffrey Kolbe had accumulated a large collection of "useful" information on internal and external ballistics. When this collection became too unwieldy and finding a particular "useful" nugget started taking too long, it was decided to go through the collection and extract the information used on a regular basis. Having completed this exercise, Geoffrey Kolbe thought that what was useful to him might be useful to others, and "A Ballistics Handbook" was born.
