I have now bought about half of Julia Cook's books. Beware that as an American counsellor/writer the book does contain some Americanisms (eg tattle tongue), so best shared with a class, rather than children reading the text directly.

A brilliant book for teaching children about telling tales. Yes it has the american term 'tattle tongue' - but it really doesn't matter as the lesson is just as valid. My granddaughter has really taken a liking to tis book.

Tattle Tongue Gives Kids a Great Place to Start 21 April 2007
By S. Brown - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
After seeing the author, Julia Cook, read this at a local book store's story time, I immediately purchased Tattle Tongue. With a 6, 4 and 3 year old it was a fabulous place to start understanding tattling. Within days I was reading it to my son's first grade class and his teacher was absolutely thrilled. This is a great story that really gives youngsters an idea of how to separate tattling from necessary information. The rules are explained in simple language with good examples. A great basis to help kids with the topic of tattling.

My kids love this book! 29 Jan. 2008
By Guidance Counselor - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I am an elementary school guidance counselor. I read this book to my first grade classes, and they love it! It really helps them to clarify what the difference is between "telling" and "tattling." Moreover, it allows me to elaborate on examples of when it is necessary to talk to an adult about dangerous situations. I would definitely recommend this book!

I am an elementary school counselor and have read this book to my 1st and 2nd grade classes and they absolutely love it! It is entertaining as well as educational and really explains the difference between "tattling" and "reporting" so these students understand it! I definitely recommend this book for parents and educators alike!

This is still great for teaching tattle rules 28 Jan. 2015
By Cristina - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
The book was a little too long for my five year olds, so I read ahead and noted the pages I needed to summarize.
This is still great for teaching tattle rules. We read the rules at the end of the book and wrote the rules out on chart paper. We even made our own tattle tongues after reading the book. The anchor chart below has been in my classroom all year and I refer to it at least once a day! :)

Too long 30 July 2009
By Lacie Wolfrey-O'Brien - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I purchased this book for my Kindergarten class. The book has some great ideas on how to combat tattling, but as a read aloud, I feel it is too long and not engaging enough to get the point across. This might work better for 2nd and up.
