You can't go wrong with this bit of decorative kit. It turned up 2 days after ordering. I've put is in the living room and it never fails to get peoples attention, and it'll keep them occupied for ages! Only thing I'd mention is the build quality is a touch flimsy. Still, it's not design to be manhandled anyway! Almost top points. Thanks Amazon.

My 10 year old received this a a birthday gift.
It is a large glass dome, made of thinnish glass, so be careful around young children, fixed to a plastic base. It runs from the mains, on 12v, via a lead that is approx 1.5m long, complete with the small transformer on the plug.
As soon as it is turned on, the electric discharges start, coming from the central orb inside the glass to the inside edge of the glass dome. It is both amazing and fantastic, the lights curl and flicker about, almost as if living, then when you put your hand or a finger on the glass the discharges are attracted to it. As you move your finger about so the light follows it. There are quite a lot produced at any one time so giving off quite a bright purple glow.
Everyone in our house loves it - and this would make a great gift for any child, male or female, young or old, or indeed for any trendy young adults.
I think this a a great value and unusual gift that you can't go wrong with.

I agree with the other reviews----this is rather flimsy but otherwise excellent and the large size makes ir really good.One point is that the package says sound reactive but there is a tiny switch on the side of the base with Sound/Off/On as selections which means you can coose the mode----sound reactive is rather fun and very senstitive to sounds in the room

Poor quality and doesn't work
A really shabby looking plasma ball, very poor quality. Worked un-impressively for ten minutes and then fizzled out. Total waste of money.

Its ok, works well when its on constant but does not work when its on the sound activate switch which is a shame.

good Christmas pressie...
Was looking for a general Christmas pressie for my son's room. he loves it! Lokks great especially when it's glowing in the dark in the corner. Would recommend for children 8+
