I own very few albums which I listen to without skipping a few tracks. This is one of those albums. It stays in my car permanently, always ready to be listened to. Fantastic tracks, excellent lyrics, what more do you want?

Collective Soul over those 7 years the album is named after, have crafter some of the finest, and most catchiest, pop-rock of the 1990's, and this is a very good example if you would like some of the best of their work.
From the speaks for itself, 'Heavy' to the beautiful, 'Forgiveness' this is a fine and pleasent trip, full of ups and downs, but leaving you satisfied. CS have always done ballads a lot better than the pacier songs as with most bands of their genre, but they do it exceptionally. The calming 'Run' has beautiful, heavenly layered vocals, the string powered 'The World I Know' would sit proudly alongside 'Iris' by Goo Goo Dolls, as a powerful, lovely low key stunner, and 'Forgiveness'is a rare example of non-feel-good music from CS, but they still do it brilliantly well. But there's also a lot of class in the pacier numbers, such as the aforementioned, 'Heavy', the hard to find 'She Said', the uplifting 'Shine', the unusual 'Energy', the spacey 'Gel', the riff heavy 'Why Part 2' among many other classics.
There's bound to be some songs on here that you'll have heard of but won't know where from. That's because some of the hooks and songs are so catchy, that they could have been used by every film soundtrack that resembles a sunny love story or emotional thriller, under the sun.
And it that's what you like, you'll like this. Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox 20 and fans of any others respectfully catchy pop-rock act, would be proud to own this and enjoy it immensely.

I have been in a daze for the last few years, hardly finding pleasure in the simplest of things. While listening to a music stream on my PC the other day was lucky enough to catch "run". It reminded me of better days and how much pleasure I used to get out of listening to groups such as CS. So I ordered this CD.
It's now being played for the 2nd time in a row sitting here at work and I am smiling for the first time in a while.
Pure nostalgia aside, the tracks are fantastic, and remind me of the pure joy that can be had from listening to some great tunes by a great group.
The stand-outs are to many to mention, with some fantastics riffs and brilliant vocals almost all-round. There is a good balance of feel good tracks, ballads and down-tempo songs to satisfy most tastes.
If you have not heard Collective Soul, and like pop-rock, or even just rock music, give this a try. You will not be disappointed.
Anyway, back to my trip down memory lane!

Essential Listening
