Your images will be sharper and you can use long exposures/slow shutter speeds for night-time, landscape, portrait and architectural work. This tripod is fast to set up and offers an excellent range of working heights. The pan and tilt head can be tensioned to allow camera movement when following even the most tricky subjects. This is one of the cheapest on the Amazon market. I have just bought another one as it just went two quid cheaper! It looks amazingly like the Hamastar 63 model and if you shop around, you'll see they all look eerily alike at different prices. I don't know if the quality is any different but reading the reviews, you wouldn't think so.

First the good:
1) Like the quick release plate and a little spring slot that I found fits into the hole of video cameras. Haven't seen them on cameras.
2) It is heavy and quite a solid build. It weighs 1.7kgs in the carrying case. Not quite suited for a travel tripod but works fine indoors.
3) The hook at the bottom of the centre column can be used for your camera case or weighted for extra stability.
4) Handy carry handle as shown in the pictures.
5) I feel the snap-on locks for the tripod legs are not the most well-built and I wonder how long they will last before it breaks or starts slipping.
6) Has rubberised and flexible moving feet at the bottom. No spikes though so quite suited for grassy outdoor situations.
&) Spirit levels might be a handy guide but it's only telling you the tripod is level which is not the same as your camera at times!

The bad:
1) I tend to use it primarily for videos and it's really not suited for videos as the panning is not as smooth as it could be. Up-down motion is slightly jerky as well.
2) If you use the centre column for extra height, it won't be very stable as far as camera movements are concerned. Will result in jerky video. If it's a SLR camera, there may be movement captured especially if used outdoor in windy conditions.
3) With a digital SLR camera, it's can be difficult to get a level portrait adjustment and it will slide if not tightened quickly.

I bought this for my 15x70 astro binoculars, whilst they look the business there is too much play in the head of the unit, regardless of how much you tighten it up, I have had to drill and tap through it so I can bolt it all together, this has cured most of the wobbles but takes a bit longer to set up now.

I bought this tripod for use inside my home to photograph coins. It is light yet sturdy enough to do the job. If I wanted to do a lot of outdoor work I would purchase a sturdier one, however it has a hook at the bottom of the central spindle which allows you to add weight if neccesary
