This Cd Box release by The Real Gone Jazz Label contains contains
Seven more Classic Albums by the late great Chet Baker.

Chesney Henry "Chet" Baker, Jr. was born an early Christmas present for his parents on 23rd December 1929 he died on 13th May 1988).
He started out on the Trombone and not only played the trumpet but also the flugelhorn and he was a noted recorded vocalist.
Perhaps it was his two stints in the US army where he played in the bands that allowed him to develop his skills?

Chet had a hard life with his Heroin addiction causing him a lot of trouble. Prison terms in Italy- getting deported from Germany (where he had served in the US Army) and Great Britain.
Not to mention the beating he took which ruined his embouchure (the position the mouth has to take to play brass instruments) and prevented his being able to play until he had his dentures and mouth fixed.

There is a volume on with 8 of Chet's Classic Albums available.
8 Classic Albums [Audio CD] Chet Baker

The 7 albums are spread over 4 CDs.
This annoys a lot of people who would prefer each to have its own CD but the amazing price really does make up for this I would suggest?

Like the rest of this excellent and bargain priced series the Cds have no information and minimal information.

At the time of writing Amazon do not give the track listing.
So this is not a review as such just some information so that potential buyers can actually see what's on the CDs.

This collection contains some wonderful music but there are two albums which deservedly faded into obscurity. The Russ Freeman Quartet album is a bit pedestrian - the trumpet sound is rather flat and dry and Freeman was, for me, always a better rhythm section player than a soloist. The soundtrack to 'The James Dean Story' is pleasant and the arrangements are good but the music is not outstanding. The rest, though, is great. A couple of sessions of good 50s mainstream with excellent bands - the 'In New York' and In Milan' albums are classics. Benny Golson's 'Fair Weather' from the New York album will be a favourite for many Chet fans. The well-known 'Chet' album of languorous and seductive standards is here, as is the 'Chet Baker Sings/It could happen to You' album. Chet's singing was always one of those Marmite things but he was invariably completely concentrated on getting the best out of the song and his vocal improvisations were good enough to provide tunes for Georgie Fame to add lyrics to and perform as excellent songs in their own right. [Georgie's 'It happened to Me' is a good example, from the improvisation on this album's title song.] The stand-out album, though, and worth the price of the set on its own is the lovely 'Best of Lerner and Loewe'. Fabulous personnel - Zoot Sims, Herbie Mann, Bill Evans, Pepper Adams! A squirt of reverb for the trumpet, Chet never more confident or polished, the band on superb form and some of the most gorgeous tunes ever written. Well worth the money.

More superlative jazz from Chet Baker and his fellow musicians. There is so much beautiful, lyrical music here that the price I paid of just over £7 seems almost ludicrous. Easily as good as the first box set.

An essential purchase for those of you considering exploring the beautiful world of Chet Baker's trumpet playing and singing.

Fantastic and a great bargain 21 Jan. 2015
By Charles Foster Kane - Published on Amazon.com
For the money, this is a fantastic set of music. One of the reviewers complains about the audio quality. I beg to disagree. The audio quality is fine. And even if it is not "audiophile" the quality of the music is superlative. Great sets, great musicianship, I've been listening to these discs since I received them, non stop. Highly recommended and a great way to get a lot of Chet Baker at a very reasonable price. I am now going to buy volume 1.

The fidelity is excellent on this and it’s a wonderful compilation. I don’t break the albums out individually but let them run together.
