The 66fit - 40cm & 50cm wooden wobble board or balance board with an easily cleanable PVC surface would be excellent in any physiotherapy department or anyone who requires regular use of the balance board.
This 66fit Wobble Board comes with a FREE instructional DVD which guides you through a wide range of exercises which covers the lower body, core and upper body, giving you clear instructional information on how to perform the exercises correctly and is demonstrated by a professional personal trainer.
Recommended up to a maximum user weight of 25 stone, wobble boards or balance boards can help retrain proprioception (the sense of balance) after injury, preventing further injury and ensuring a speedy return to sport. Failure to retrain balance after ankle sprains can lead to chronic weakness and recurrent sprains.They can also be used for exercising and strengthing core stability.
The 40cm wobble board has a 16 degree tilt and is recommended for intermediate to advanced user. Ideal for advanced rehabilitation and sports people and is built to last. Ideally suited for physio departments, sports/rehabilitation centres and home use.

I snapped a ligament in my knee and my physiotherapist asked me to have a go on one of these.
I think the idea was that it would improve proprioreception (i.e. our ability to balance and know what our body is doing when our eyes are closed) and this in turn would reduce the risk of reinjuring the knee.
I did consider my balance to be okay, e.g. I can walk along scaffold poles without holding on to something, but still I found balancing on a wobble board to be quite a challenge. As such I still feel motivated to use it, months later.
If you have zero balance you can use it whilst holding on to something. I would have given 5 stars but £27 for a bit of wood seems a bit steep. It probably helps skateboarding/surfing ability but I am not so cool as to be able to confirm that.

The wobble board has really helped me regain my balance after a posterior tibial tendon tear which kept me from long walks for almost a year. When I started walking 5+ miles again, I found my balance was very poor. By following the exercises on the wobble board, I have regained my balance. My husband is using it too as he was having sensory propreceptor problems where he felt he was going to fall if he stood too long. Daily use of the wobble board has helped him a great deal.

Good quality & strong (I am not the lightest of people & didn't trust the look of the plastic ones) but I admit to feeling it was a bit expensive for a circle of board with a half ball stuck to the bottom & a non-slip pad on the top.
BUT - good fun & harder than it looks to balance on it.

Wobble Board
The wobble board is very sturdy and using it helps develop my muscles in my legs so that they can protect my bad knee. It is fun to use and just a few minutes a day helps.
