Enjoy this album and usually buy the Now! albums because they edit popular songs so they are child friendly. Still would advise to check each song before putting on to your childs mp3 player. I have found with some songs, the context isn't child friendly but the great thing is you can pick and choose your songs!

Keep em clean NOW!

With most Now compilations at the start of each year, you end up getting, like some of us, a nasty hangover as we progress from one year into the next. Now 81 doesn't suffer from this problem, as the tracks still sound as interesting and engaging by the time they came to release this at the start of 2012.

From Gotye's instant classic Somebody That I Used to Know, to the 2011 Christmas chart-topper Wherever You Are, CD 1 delivers an entertaining listen covering all grounds to please the most critical of pop music fans. Even with the debatable covers (Little Mix's Cannonball, Marcus Collins' Seven Nation Army) to the downright borderline annoying tracks (Rizzle Kicks' Mamma Do the Hump) can't stop the consistent offering this disc has to offer. Standout tracks range from the anthemic (David Guetta's Titanium, Florence + the Machine's Shake it Out) to the surprisingly melodic offering (Lana Del Ray's Prepare to Die) from what can be argued from the usual standard fare of the current pop scene.

Another tradition Now 81 breaks with 'Now' compilations is that Disc 2 usually sounds better then the first disc. That is not the case with this, probably because all the tracks are sandwiched between the occasionally annoying LMFAO track Sexy and I Know It, and Dappy's collaboration with Brian May- Really. Does May need to do this kind of work? - for Rockstar. There are some standout tracks in there, ranging from Avicii's excellent Levels, Lady Gaga' anthemic Marry the Night, to Swedish House Mafia catchy Antidote. But this disc suffers from a genre overload of dance, R'n'B, and rap. Now that the average music buyer do not mind hearing Alexandre Burke's Elephant amongst Lloyd's R'n'B-collaboration overload Dedicated to My Ex (Miss That), but die-hard music fans may not stomach such a miss-mash of sounds.

'Now 81' is surprisingly good, and deserves a listen to sample the contemporary pop scene, as well as causing a few debates along the way.

I don't always buy these NOW albums because sometimes you get 60% of the songs that are definitely kicking it while the remainder only makes you hit the "skip" or FF button. This one, however, is definitely worth it if you're looking for the current hits and more! I didn't find a song on it I know I'm always gonna skip each time I listen to the album, well, except Cannonball and Wherever You Are; the latter, i don't think suits this compilation but that's just IMHO. For me, it gets 4.5 stars so I gave it 5! :-)

Always like the Now music albums, great variety of songs I like, without buying each as a single or different album. Item as described, delivered within time frame stated, no problems

As with most of this range of CD's there's a song for everyone on this disc. It's one of those discs that every DJ should have in their collection.

Unfortunately, there are only a handful of tracks on disc one which are worth listening to and disc two was awful. Although the album track list boasts of a lot of very well known artists the tracks were mainly ones which have never been big hits, which myself and my family had never heard of despite watching MTV, listening to the radio when commuting to work every day and being a fan of many of the artists contained on the track list. Big disappointment.
