Michael Giacchino really did himself proud with this score. The melody central to the movie, 'Married Life', evokes both incredibly light-hearted, innocent feelings and more thoughtful, sorrowful ones. Although the animation has deep undertones, it's generally a very feel-good, humorous film, and the upbeat nature of the music really brings it to life. My personal favorites on this sountrack are 'Married Life', 'Up With End Credits' and 'The Spirit of Adventure' (which is a lyrical piece done in an old fashioned style...excellent!) If you love the movie and Giacchino's work in general, you're going to adore this score, guaranteed! It's disappointing that it's hard to get this on CD, as opposed to just MP3 format.

Of the three scores Giacchino has done for Pixar films this is perhaps second in line. His first, 'The Incredibles', takes some beating and this score just can't quite live up to it. It does have some good moments and exciting touches, but the themes aren't perhaps as strong as they could have been. Having said that, being in the UK I haven't seen the movie yet (as of time of writing) so in context in the film it's probably fine. But as a separate listen it left me a little wanting.

I must admit that I missed the film when it hit the big screen. I don't know - The story just didn't appeal to me, However it I had known of the score. And what a score. I fell in love with the score before the film.
I've just finnished watching the film for the second time now on DVD and now I'm starting to like it - the film that is.
Well, as for the score - it's magnificant. Ever since a child I've had a passion for film music, I don't care much about the film star for me the stars are the composers that just make 'em look good.
As I'm typing this I have the score to this film running through my headphones. What I love most about it as the sort of 1950's cinemascope, dream sequence that this score has captured. Reminds me of the old 'Around the world in 80 days'. This is not meant as an insult but a praise.
Out of all the pixar/disney pics this score woops em all.
This is what scoring a film is all about and what good movie making is all about. Just take me to another time another place.
Don't take my word for it - buy the damn thing and be moved as I am right now.
Thank you Pixar and thank you Walt most of all!

After watching the film with my Daughter, I fell in love with the music. No piece of music has made me feel such emotion as 'Married Life.' I have cried just listening to it. I cant really say anymore than that, if you buy the music you will not be disappointed.
