DVD Description
The film reveals multiple methods of assassination, from exploding cigars to femme fatales; a radio station rigged with noxious gas to a poison syringe posing as an innocuous ballpoint pen. The former head of Cuban Intelligence alleges that there were over 600 plots dreamt up to end the life of the "red menace".
On the trail of Castro’s would-be killers, the filmmakers meet a series of would-be assassins – several are also accused terrorists, still living in America. All these men, the film reveals, were supported and funded by the United States. At one point, staggeringly, the CIA even sought the help of the Mafia in the hope they would be able to succeed where so many others had failed.
The sub-text of the film is a comment on the contemporary War on Terrorism - acknowledged terrorists who have made common cause with the CIA in the past live happily in the United States, but individuals with often very sketchy connections with latter-day terrorism have ended up incarcerated without trial at Guantanamo Bay.

I always pay great attention to a movie's soundtrack, and I also really like the music that the filmmakers have used for the interplay of characters and scenes throughout the film.
Secret operations are often known in the U.S. covert intelligence community as "fun and games," and, as the film shows, the obsession of several U.S. presidents -- from Eisenhower to, yes, Clinton -- has made "getting" Castro the biggest game of all. Never mind that the U.S. government has worked with some of the most notorious figures in the mafia and Cuban exile community to try and "get" their man. One such well-known figure, interviewed in the film, is Luis Posada Carriles, who today is living freely and openly in the United States.
In this age of the "war on terrorism," this film brings home the irony of how one nation's terrorism can be another nation's "fun and games." The film is well-researched and well-edited, entertaining and informative. History, humor and some home-grown filmmaking hubris earn this one 5 stars for sure.
