4.0 out of 5 stars 633 Squadron: Opreation Safeguard, 19 Nov 2007
By Shez (Stanley, Co. Durham) - See all my reviews
The long awaited follow-up to the successful series of 633 Squadron novels sees the Author (Frederick E Smith) step back to pre-invasion World War 2 to produce a thought provoking story based around a new-recruit pilot (Chalmont) paired-up with Navigator Richards who'd recently lost his pilot. Chalmont, a top-scoring volunteer from the Training Unit from an Upper-Class background, brings with him lots of baggage from his pre-war life which causes turmoil in his operational career which impacts on him and Richards' relationship both within the Squadron and outside. A thoroughly enjoyable read, fans of the 633 Squadron series will enjoy this.
