Product Description

Product Description

"What a night it turned out to be. My favourite venue, friends both on stage and in the audience that I'd known for most of my life and a terrific way to celebrate my 60th Birthday" was how Peggy described the event. Captured here on a two CD set for the price of one. A stellar cast of performers for a once in a lifetime experience. A great souvenir for those lucky enough to be there and a 'must have' collection for all his fans worldwide.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bass Legend and Friends 30 Nov 2008
By The Soft Machine Operator TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD
Mr Pegg's Birthday Bash in 2007 was a celebration of a musical career, beginning with blues/pop and running through Ian Cambell, Fairport, Jethro Tull and featuring artists Pegg has worked with such as Steve Ashley, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Anna Ryder & Ralph McTell.

This album captures most of the concert. Notable highlights are Ian Campbell, Dave Swarbrick and Dave Pegg performing together, and an old lineup of Jethro Tull is recreated for two songs - with Ian Anderson in fine voice and flute for Locomotive Breath. Dan Ar Braz performs a touching version of Sandy Denny's "Rising for the Moon."

There's a lot to enjoy here.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a night! 6 May 2011
Format:MP3 Download
I was there...I can actually say I was at brum Town Hall when Peggy celebrated his birthday. OK, I was in the cheap seats, sitting in the choir stalls behind the stage, but I got a unique view of the gig - from behind the band! And what a gig it was. A veritable who's who of folk music over the past 50 years. And this album brings back every note of the gig to me. A fantastic list of musicians all playing for Peggy - and he deserves it.

This is a must-buy album if you have any interest in folk-rock.

There are some really good songs - I enjoyed the version of Solo from Mary Beth Carpenter - almost as good as Sandy Denny.
