Product Description

The LUMIX FT25--Featuring Casual, Stylish and Rugged Design for Active Uses

The DMC-FT25 is waterproof to a depth of 7m/23ft and dustproof equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard. Thanks to rubber padding and reinforced glass and carbon resins inside the camera, the DMC-FT25 features an airtight body protected against water immersion, dust and sand. It is also drop proof from a height up to 1.5m/5ft in accordance with the "MIL-STD 810F Method516.5-Shock" test standard and freezeproof to temperatures as low as -10˚C/14˚F.

Advanced Tough Features for Exciting Outdoor Shooting

The FT25 is built to withstand a rugged outdoor life. Whether it's snorkelling, snowboarding or just adventure holidaying the FT25 includes these rugged features: 7m(23ft) waterproof, 1.5m(5ft) shockproof, -10℃(14°F)Freeze-proof, and Dustproof.

Panasonic SZ3
Colour corrects the image to make your underwater shots more realistic.
Advanced Underwater Shooting Mode - Colour Correction

Underwater photography or video can show incorrect colours due to the filter effect of the water removing red light from the image. Panasonic have added an underwater shooting mode that colour corrects the image and puts back the red tones to make your shots more realistic.

16.1-megapixel CCD Sensor and Folded Optics 4x Zoom Lens

The 16.1-megapixel sensor delivers excellent picture quality from the compact Lumix 25mm (equivalent) Wide-angle Lens. Also the clever folded optics design enables a 4x optical zoom, non-protruding lens, within the compact body of the camera.

25mm (Equivalent) Wide-angle Lens

Of course sometimes you want to photograph wide vistas or just fit a large group of people into the shot. This is where the 25mm equivalent wide angle lens on board this camera comes into its own. Its wide angle of view allows more of your subject into the photograph, which is great for those times when you can't step back far enough to fit it all in.

Mega O.I.S. with Active Mode for Video Recording

Image stabilisation is essential when taking high zoom pictures without the use of a tripod. Optical stabilisation is the best method as it counteracts the blur that normally occurs by hand holding the camera but does not degrade the image. With Panasonic's Mega O.I.S. pictures are sharp and blur free even when the shooting conditions are tricky. With the option of Active mode available during movie recording, videoing from a moving vehicle or while walking is also more precise.

Panasonic SZ3
Fast focus is essential for catching fast moving objects.
Sonic-speed AF to Catch That Fleeting Moment

The Sonic Speed AF and a quick start-up time help you to quickly focus on moving subjects, such as when you're shooting sports scenes or animals.

2.7 Inch (6.7cm) LCD with High Angle & Auto Brightness Mode

A 2.7 inch LCD is offered that works well in bright light due to the Auto Brightness sensor that automatically increases brightness by up to 40% when in sunny conditions. It also has a "high angle" mode that enables you to still see the image when holding the camera up high.

iA (Intelligent Auto) Shooting Mode

The art of taking interesting photographs is to have a camera that is ready to shoot when the moment arises. iA mode lets you take the picture without you having to worry about what settings to use. The camera intelligently works out the type of scene that you are trying to capture. Whether it is a picture of a person's face (using Auto Portrait mode), a dramatic landscape (using Auto Landscape mode), a close up of a beautiful flower (using Auto Macro mode) or a group of friends (using Auto Face Detection). All the most commonly used shooting scenarios are programmed in to the camera and the camera makes all the internal settings automatically, leaving you to just press the button.

Creative Filter Control for Recording

To add an interesting new look to your photos any one of 12 creative filter effects can be selected before taking your shot: Expressive, Retro, High Key, Low Key, Sepia, High Dynamic, Dynamic Monochrome, Miniature, Toy Photo, Impressive Art, Cross Process and One-point Colour.

Creative Re-touch for Playback

Some of the creative filter effects that are available before taking your picture are also available to add to your shot after you have captured it. You can decide whether effects like Sepia, High Key or Dynamic Monochrome add an interesting new look to your shot, and apply the effect to the original picture after you have reviewed it.

Panasonic TZ40
Add creative effects to your Panorama shooting.
Creative Panorama Shooting Mode with Filter Effects

The Ultra-wide shooting panorama mode not only allows you to capture vast landscapes in one complete picture, but in a Panasonic first, this camera also offers "Creative Panorama" mode which allows you to choose from up to 12 filter effects* that can be applied to your shot.

Panasonic XS1
Recording at 1280 x 720 resolution means your video recordings look great when watched on a compatible HD TV.
MP4 HD Lite Video Recording Mode

Movie record mode is MP4 (H.264) format. High Definition video at 1280x720 can be shot at 25 Progressive frames per second. MP4 format is compatible with many video editing software packages, but is also compatible with iTunes for playback on Smartphone or tablet devices.

Optical Zoom in Video Mode

Many Digital Still Cameras offer video mode these days, but most do not support zooming during video recording. Panasonic do include the zoom function on this Lumix model, so you can now shoot video just like you can with a camcorder.

LED Video Light with Torch Mode

The bright LED video light not only adds increased light when shooting in dark conditions but also has a handy torch mode that can be used at any time.

*Number of effects varies according to model.

Got one of these today (albeit from Argos at £22 cheaper)to take on our holiday to Egypt in a couple of weeks' time. First impressions are good. Feels a bit lighter in the hand than one might have expected (pretty much all plastic components). Outside of that the build quality appears to be good. It is dead easy to operate and my 10 year old daughter mastered it in no time at all. She tested it thoroughly in the bathroom basin so we know the waterproofing is sound. Time will tell if that holds true for longer periods of use in the ocean. Image quality is good. The battery can only be charged by removing it and inserting it in the supplied charger (to be expected given that it is a waterproof camera). Depending on how good the battery life is you may therefore lose the use of the camera for a period of time. Having said that, the first charge was really quick (about an hour).

It has a cool feature which is the ability to set the time zone of your holiday destination and also when you will be leaving and returning. When you turn the camera on it tells you how many days to go. My daughter loves that bit as she has been counting down the days. Now the camera is helping her do that.

When we get back I will provide a further update on things such as video quality, battery life and indeed, waterproofing.

UPDATE: 7/06/2013

So we are back and the news is good. This little camera is so good the entire family started using it and the other two compacts we took with were left in the room. It has a lot of features - do take the manual with the first time you go on holiday with it because you will probably need it. The best part is the crystal clear LCD screen.

I read some of the reviews and nearly didn't buy this but thought I'd take a chance. What a great little camera! The menu for different settings is really easy to access and there's a video button next to the larger photo button which saves running through the settings to take video and missing what you wanted to film.
Waterproof? YES! There are very clear instructions which appear on-screen every time you charge and replace the battery. Basically just make sure the seal and body are clean when you shut the case and you shouldn't have a problem. I took pictures and video while snorkelling and diving down to around 4m deep and never had a drop of water in the camera.
My only 'con' is the 4 x zoom which is a little low but for a general, robust holiday snap camera I say you can't go wrong with this.

This is a great holiday camera, packed full of useful features. The camera is waterproof despite some of the claims to the contrary. I would strongly recommend reading the underwater instructions first. If putting the camera in a sandy bag, make sure you rinse & dry it before opening the side door. Any sand or hair that sits in the seal when its closed could easily cause it to leak, so a bit of care inspecting this would be wise.

Onto the features, it looks, feels & operates just like any normal camera, which is great when you "accidentally" drop it in the fish tank & observe your kids reaction!

There are separate buttons to take photo & videos so there's no selecting the mode via a menu first which is great for capturing fleeting moments.

For holiday snaps, you can take a panoramic shot by holding the shutter down & panning the camera. The camera automatically stiches the image together & the result is great.

There's a rapid fire mode for action shots.

The images are excellent & comparable to my DSLR, which was barely used this holiday. The automatic filters for underwater shooting is in fact far superior to "land" cameras that have been waterproofed.

The battery like is adequate in my opinion. It lasted on average two days, sometimes less if it was being used extensively.

Well to start with I would just like to say I put my cameras through there paces , I have a go pro hd , go pro hd 2 , go pro hd 3 black, vio pov hd and many other normal cameras including other Panasonic ones.

This little beauty if perfect for taking on holiday for the pictures underwater and just throwing about, with out thinking put it away out of the dusty sand and don't get it wet, just put it where you like, this cam will take any thing you shove at it, it went snorkelling in the sea in Egypt, been strapped to my handle bars of my R1 and My mountain bike with high vibration and its bang on, i have had this maybe about 18 months and it saves me taking my more expensive go pro gear and vio Pov kit around on holiday does what i wanted it too. it also survived a big off while snowboarding in the apls in January , don't get me wrong this is not as rugged as a go pro but it survived being under snow under water I don't think its ever going to get tired of being abused.

if your after a cam that can cope with the lot this is it , cheap too.

the under water photos are amazing go some really good pictures of clown fish about 4 meters under water in Ras Muhammad (Egypt) it looked like i took the picture of an aquarium on dry land not 4 meters underwater.

even the video is top draw, full HD in Mp4 format couldn't ask for more

cant rate it enough, if your reading this.......... just buy it you wont be disappointed
