Product Description

59 Seconds: PersuasionHow to give the perfect interview, never lose your wallet again, how to convince anyone of anything by using your pet frog and why rewards fail. Most people would like to be more persuasive. For years, gurus and 'life coaches' have urged people to improve their lives by changing the way they think and behave, but scientific research has revealed that many of their techniques, from visualization to self-affirmation, are ineffective.Fortunately, psychologist Richard Wiseman is on hand, in this sample chapter from "59 Seconds", to provide fast-acting, myth-busting scientific answers to a huge range of everyday problems. From how to persuade people to do you favours to giving the perfect interview, personal and professional success may be less than a minute away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book!!!!!! 8 Jan 2012

I listened to the audio book of this and I am so impressed. Richard explains how he uses scientific results to allow us to know just what simple techniques we can use to be better at persuading others. He quotes scientific reports and gives clear easy ways on how you can implement the techniques in your life. Did you know that offering overly large rewards for a task can actually demotivate and why? When in an interview when is it best to say about your weaknesses? Mentioning weaknesses at the beginning is better than at the end of interview, as this shows that you are open and honest.

I bought his audio book about motivation and loved it so I have bought the whole lot of the 59 seconds range. I would definitely recommend them all. Also recommend his earlier book the Luck Factor. .

3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure 4 Aug 2013

Although I've read the book I can't say I can remember anything about it. I don't think it's taught me anything. However that shouldn't detract from a well written book. And may well prove useful to someone else.

If you already have "59 Seconds" don't buy this. It's exactly the same chapter. Sadly the publishers don't feel the need to make that clear. The material is still a fine read if you are new to this though material.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing content - totally forgettable 17 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Disappointed with content. Read it a few months ago and remember very little of what was said because very little of value of note was said. Not expensive but really don't waste your money.
