"this book is an unapologetic collection of some great marketing insights from a seasoned marketing professional." --Amazon review, 26th August, 2010

From the Author

Essentially, Marketing is all common-sense... but like most things, usually you only see it's common-sense when you're shown the why and how of what's needed.

This book will give you a head start over your colleagues or business competitors. Why? Because you won't have to learn the hard way... by many many years of trial and error. You'll be able to pick up this book and, from day one, be able to put every single tip and trick you read about into practice. This gives you a huge advantage in today's economic climate.

There are heaps of great books written on marketing yet most of them take one of two routes. Either it's a distillation of case studies from Dell, Avis and Walmart or a series of strategies purloined from the pages of the Havard Business Review.

This book doesn't do either of those things. The author offers hardly any 'high church' marketing at all. Rather, it offers some very practical tips on making your campaigns work harder. Some of the tips won't surprise you, others might. Either way, this book is an unapologetic collection of some great marketing insights from a seasoned marketing professional.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth buying. 27 Aug. 2010
Working in the marketing department of a FTSE 100 company I struggle to find the time to read what I would class as "academic" marketing books - they're generally at least an inch thick, far too wordy and I find them incredibly boring.

If you're looking for a book which has practical use for those working (or wanting to work) in marketing then this gets my vote. It's easy to read, easy to carry around with you and it's full of useful tips.

I found five minutes reading the book very useful when preparing for a recent event.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read and a book for real marketing 31 Aug. 2010
By Mel C
Format:Kindle Edition
Being quite new to the world of maketing I found this book extreamly useful. I've been studying for a marketing qualification and most of the books I've come accross are lengthly and sometimes the content is unrealistic for 'real' marketing in the work place. This book is quite the opposite, its informative, relevant to day to day marketing and full of brilliant tips that actually work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Little gems of information 28 Sept. 2010
By Geordie
Having read this book following a recommendation I can say I was surprised at the honest and forthright nature of the advice it contains.

I have a low tolerance for waffle and long winded explanations of theory and this book gave me everything I wanted in short (A paragraph in some instances) summaries. It is also neatly categorised into areas such as; Design, Writing Copy, Agencies etc making it ideal for the busy person who wants to dip in and out of a book rather than reading it from cover to cover.

On the whole, the advice is pragmatic, considered and smacks of experience gained rather than theory retained!

5.0 out of 5 stars A real find! 5 Nov. 2010
Having recently started in a Marketing Executive role with a large established company, and with only a little marketing background I was looking for a book which was informative, easy to use and most importantly relevant to my daily work. I found this book just that and much easier to engage with than the thick marketing 'textbooks' which i used at University. I can easily dip in and out of this book whenever I need to and have picked up some excellent tips which will undoubtedly help me throughout my marketing career.
