Product Description

Story overview

Featuring a greater focus on player agency/choice and expansive environments filled with opportunities for distinct play styles, and set in the exotic yet deadly terrain of North Africa during World War II, Sniper Elite 3 sees American OSS agent Karl Fairburne deep behind Nazi lines, providing crucial sharpshooter skills as the Allies battle Germany's fearsome Tiger tanks across the Western Desert.

But it's not just the famed Afrika Korps that Karl has to worry about; he soon uncovers German plans to build a 'wunderwaffe' – a 'wonder weapon' – with the power to crush any Allied forces in its path, and turn the tide of the whole war.

Key features

  • Observe, plan, execute, adapt: Expansive environments allow the player to choose how they complete the mission, offering non-linear multi-routes and more verticality than ever before, offering the freedom to take out the enemy by your own design.
  • Relocation: A sniper always needs an exit strategy. Search the varied environments to create and discover opportunities that suit your play style: sniper nests, ambush locations, alternative approaches, sound masking, and trap setup. Prioritise your targets to maximise your advantage and use shadows and darkness to remain unseen by the Afrika Korps, or relocate to keep your prey guessing.
  • Environment: The North African battlefields of WWII provide great visual variation, significantly different from any other sniping title before it, allowing for much longer ranged shots. Play amongst mountain ranges and huge flat plains; bustling townships and cities; and remote village settlements.
  • Improved Afrika Korps AI: Clear cues for engagement and detection and a rebuilt AI system emphasising squad roles and tactics make the Afrika Korps smarter and more challenging, while allowing the player more meaningful choices. Backed by a variety of vehicles from Jeeps to Panzer tanks, the Afrika Korps are a force to be reckoned with.
  • Weapon and character customisation: Gain XP and sniper ranks from both single-player and multiplayer progression to unlock over 40 new and unique customisation parts and build the ultimate rifle that best suits your mission and play style. Customise individual load-outs and store them for both multiplayer and single-player engagements.
  • Improved human killcam: The human killcam now shows even greater detail, including the human circulatory system and complete muscle layer.
  • New vehicle killcam: Extended to mechanical equipment such as armoured cars and tanks, multi-stage destruction allows you to create your own opportunity on a vehicle before delivering the killing shot; shoot into tanks via the driver view-port; see the crew taken out inside.
  • Multiplayer: Building on the multiplayer pedigree of previous titles, Sniper Elite 3 is packed with content for both co-operative and competitive players. Five modes of competitive action with support for team or lone wolf play including Distance King and No Cross, with a selection of maps available at launch. Larger and more open environments allow for greater freedom of movement and longer distances for the more skilled Sniper. Earn your medals and ribbons to become the ultimate sniper!
  • Co-op: The return of your favourite modes sees co-operative players able to choose from Overwatch missions and the new Survival Missions. In Overwatch, players take the distinct roles of the sniper and the operative, and must choose their play style working closely as a team to accomplish their mission. For Survival gameplay, you take on the endurance challenge against everything the German Afrika Korps can throw against you!
  • Cover: A greater range of movement and agility means snipers can quickly navigate the environment and keep one step ahead of their prey.
  • Improved combat: Better feedback is given to the player so they can decide how best to deal with both long-range and short-range combat. Improved stealth melee combat gives additional ways to take out your enemy without being seen.

I’ll just like to first say that I've previously played the other two Sniper Elite games in the series (on PC/PS3) & I have to acknowledge that this game, the third in the series is the best. Let me start with the main reason why this game has distanced itself (in a good way) from the other linear point-and-shoot WW2 Sniper/Shooter games. The fundamentally reason and solid-core of the game is the Bullet Kill-cam; that tracks the sniper bullets from the muzzle to the muscle. They have innovated the Kill-cam by adding new fanatically-awesome layering to the unique selling point of this game as you watch your carefully planned bullet hit your target from your sniper hide-out or disguised cave crevice.

The attention to detail as to the devastating effects to the circulatory and bone system as a bullet crunches bone and explodes organs is rather worryingly, yet strangely awesome at the same time. As with many sniper-focused games; it must be said that the storyline, plot & character development is mediocre at best; but the sheer ruthless violence as you watch your timed bullets fly across the desert plains to explode a tank or take out a chief commander, well makes up for this. To be fair to the developers; it must be very hard to develop an intrinsic storyline for a game that revolves around targeting different areas of the body to witness the bloody, yet ruthlessly awesome effect.

They have developed the ability to change your equipment and load-out more so than the other two predecessors; which makes a great improvement as you can change your sniper rifle, scope, rifle body, etc. for your own preferences.

5.0 out of 5 stars BANG - right between the eyes! 19 July 2014
By Pippin
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard
I absolutely love this game. I've never played any of the previous Elite games so took a chance on this. I have so far sunk 22hrs into it and am only midway through the campaign story mode. Sure there are the well-known AI issues but if you can overlook them and appreciate the fun to be had playing then you could love it. For instance the graphics are very good - although I prefer to play in 3d - which lowers the resolution, but definately worth it for the extra immersion 3d adds. The levels/maps are very big and there are loads of diferent routes to be taken through each one. I also find it very replayable, trying different tactics and approaches, etc,. Oh, I recommend upping the difficulty level - which increases the tension when playing. I won't be touching the multi-player but still reckon I will easily gain 30-plus hours of gameplay from this title. So if you think in pounds-per-hour enjoyment, I definately think this game is a good buy. Oh, I haven't even touched on bullet-cam yet - that's because everybody else has covered that already. Also, it's a good game to watch someone else playing too.

3.0 out of 5 stars *** 20 July 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4| Edition:Standard|Verified Purchase
Not a terrible game, but got sick of it half way through because of the crappy enemy ai who know exactly where you are as soon as you fire a bullet and have pinpoint accuracy even with an inaccurate gun plus the checkpoints in this game are just ridiculous, It just needs ALOT of improvement. I loved sniper elite v2 even though that had its problems but this I just found way too frustrating. LOVED the xray killcams though!

3.0 out of 5 stars Killcam Still Fun But No Where Near As Good As V2 24 July 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard
Sniper Elite V2 was hands down my favourite game on the PS3 outside of the main stream COD etc and I was genuinely excited about V3 on the PS4.
I was excited about the prospect of the better graphics on the kill cam which to be honest don't disappoint but the rest of the game is nothing too special.

The whole game is all about sneaking from one place to another, put a foot wrong and you will be surrounded by soldiers who have pin point accuracy and will kill you in seconds - this is where the enjoyment value started to wane for me.
The African environment is fun but no where near as good as the city landscapes from the second version.

I think maybe I was expecting too much as V2 was really special and hopefully V4 will be special again.

This will be a budget game within weeks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get it for tue xray cam 21 July 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4| Edition:Standard|Verified Purchase
Going to start with my overall impression... excellent game.

Its a fun sniping game, probably the best iv played, the level design is good, there are only 8 missions but they arnt what you would call short and there are plenty of collectables.

The main selling point for this game is the xray kill cam, the detail is excellent and it really adds to the enjoyment of the game, it could be said this game wouldnt be anywhere near as good, however i am nowat the end of the game and have found iv been skipping the kill cam as sometimes it not always necessary.

The only cons of this game are that the story is extremely weak, not that a game like this needs a strong story, and in line with this the character development is very lacking.

All in all id definately recomend this game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good 10 Aug 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard
I didn't purchase this game from Amazon, I got it from Asda yesterday as was only a pound dearer in-store.

Visually, the game is on a par with the pc version ( which I also have ) when playing in 1920x1080. Now I hear you ask, If you already own it on pc then why buy the PS4 version....well, I have a 3D TV and wanted to see if the 3D was as good as it is or better than the pc 3D ( using Tridef not the built in 3D as it's for AMD cards only and mine is Nvidia ) . Unfortunately the PS4 drops the resolution to 1280x720 when you enter 3D mode, don't get me wrong, it's still very good but you can see a difference in graphical quality which I found rather disappointing. Full HD mode in 2D is very very good though hence only the 4 stars. As for the game itself, well, I think its a lot of fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best in the series to date.
If you are a fan of the genre, you'll enjoy it. Graphically better than SE2 and enemy IA is better. Still a few too many stealth close quarters elements perhaps, but entertaining.
