This book is great for planning days out or weekends away. It covers a huge number of different places across the UK (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and also some in Ireland. The vast bulk are in England, so not the balance that some people may hope for, yet there are still plenty of options elsewhere.

Pictures on every page are nice and help to draw you in, particularly when just flicking through for ideas. Each page has a half page prose about the area or attraction covered and then there are some key points to note such as location, cost, amount of walking/accessibility and things not to miss. Unforetunately, your geography has to be good as there are no maps to reference where each of the locations are, so a handy internet connection or atlas to check may be helpful.

It's a hardback bound book with a dust-jacket, so can be stuffed in a suitcase for weekend or holidays away without much worry about damage, although given the size and weight, it might not be too convenient to take out to each day trip with you.

Overall, it's a really good book to provide inspiration for places to go and things to do, just a shame about the lack of map.

Great product with really informative pages on each town/area etc. Will be of great use for those days when you think where shall we go? Only small gripe is there could have been a master map or something to show where the places actually are in the UK, apart from that great product!

This book is kind of great, we keep it on our coffee table, makes a great piece to simply pickup and plan a weekend or just to know what the UK is about.

Offers a range of ideas with additional suggestions to complete the day - great photos, useful summary on each page with more detailed info to help make your choices. Only drawback is over emphasis on the South of England - lots of great days out in North and provinces still waiting to be enjoyed.

An interesting book, with a good many ideas for days out, some are further afield for a day out but good for holidays to other parts of Britain. Descriptions sometimes need a little more fleshing out but on the whole it does what is says and gives you some great ideas.

destinations in England are dealt with in pages 8-284 but there is not a single map or breakdown as to areas other than a small colour strip on most of the top right hand pages. The strip for all the pages covering the whole of England is is purple with ENGLAND in bold then the region (such as Southeast) after that. As this is down the right edge it is not easily read. The small addition of a page detailing an area eg Southwest; Northwest etc would really improve what is a good reference book.

This is a wonderful book. Have used it several times to book a few holidays in the UK based on the information in the book. Used it to think of holiday ideas and to narrow down places to visit. Great tips for shopping, parking and opening seasons for places which can get busy. Bit big to take around with but okay to put in the car to read in the evenings before next day out.
