Book Description

28 May 2004
More and more people are getting into body art. But how do you go about choosing a design for what is, after all, a lifetime decision that's going to cost thousands of dollars to erase or alter? You can look on the street or visit a tattoo artist who will have photographic examples of their art for you to flick through. Or you could let this book be your inspiration and guide - 256 pages, 500 designs, one third in colour, the rest in black linework. Neatly organized by theme, the clearly-executed line drawings cover every conceivable subject area, from historical and traditional to modern, including tribal imagery of native American Indians, Japanese and Chinese characters, arcane hieroglyphics, Gothic skulls, Celtic amulets, Maori armbands, nymphs, dragons, talismans and religious symbols. As well as the designs, the book also includes sections on health and safety, how to choose a tattoo pariour and tattoo aftercare. Whether you want to show off your design or conceal it, this book is packed with hundreds of possibilities.

1.0 out of 5 stars the worst of the worst 15 Oct 2009
By D. Watt
Format:Paperback
As a proffesional tattooist and avid tattoo-related book collector, I must say this is the worst source book for 'tattoo designs' I have come across. The author evidently has no interest or experience in the field of tattooing and is looking to make a quick buck!

1.0 out of 5 stars It made a good but expensive colouring book !!! 19 Sep 2009
Format:Paperback
I was so disappointed with this book , i was looking to draw inspiration for a tattoo but found this totally uninspirational ! It was like a 14 year olds doodles , very basic , basic colouring , mainly outlines and not alot of variety. Totally gutted when I looked through this book , it has now been given to my 3 year old daughter for her to use as a colouring book all be it a very expensive one !!

1.0 out of 5 stars please dont get a tattoo from this book 26 Aug 2009
Format:Paperback
what a load of rubbish, a book of very very basic out lines that would suit stain glass windows more than tattoos the colouring is basic no shading on the whole a very poor example of ink work that's available today, the best tattoo in the whole book is the one on the cover and that's far from an interesting example of tattoo work.very poor.

I'm in the tattoo industry and I am making my books related collection. Bought this book, I wasn't expecting to find Paul Booth's, Bob Tyrell's, Atchinson's, etc. work in it, but even for it's low price, I consider a pint of lager a better investment than buying this book. the models are really simple and outdated (and I'm not reffering to Old School when I say outdated. they're just *rap)
I appologise to the author, but I wanted to be Brutal honest.
That's my opinion.
Take care, have fun.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing. 5 Sep 2009
By Mr. K. Cross VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I already owned several tattoo books, but the cover & the very reasonable price of this book caught my attention & so I ordered it. I was to be disappointed with the content, however. Many of the designs are extremely basic: some appearing almost to have been drawn by a child, & others looking like something from the pages of a child's colouring book. I found it quite odd to see so many of the designs not coloured in. There were very few original designs, a large number appearing throughout my other books, but of better quality. There is one tattoo design that I would contemplate having done, to add to my collection of body art, but asking my tattooist to improve it by drawing it to a higher standard, & changing the colours. It provides a mildly entertaining browse, but for serious tattoo collectors, those who are considering having their first tattoo, or for those who want to learn something of the history of this form of body art, look elsewhere. This book is not particularly informative, & does not provide you with much inspiration.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor designs 27 April 2006
Format:Hardcover
The designs in here look like pictures in a childrens colouring in book. They are very basic and tacky looking. Although i dont like most tribal designs the tattoo at the front of the book it is probably better than the rest in there.
