Did you love the TV series? Did you laugh at the single Y-reg? Did you listen to the Radio 4 series? Well, join the rest of us in the world of John Shuttleworth. Yes, the book is just a basic rewrite of the TV series but there are some added gems to behold. If you find the idea of playing your organ on a freezer funny or songs with lines like, "You're like Manchester, you have Strangeways..." then this is the book for you. It has all of John's lyrics and is much bette than the usual TV related rip offs you find. For a laugh with a difference then this is for you.

You either understand the humour or you don't. If you have enjoyed any of the radio or tv series then you'll love this. If you aren't the type to enjoy a camp-o-chino at B&Q, then best not bother.

Versatile Singer/Songwriter John Shuttleworth and his sole agent Ken Worthington have what is described as a 'cult following' on BBC Radio 4. It is comedy, but not in an obvious punchline followed by canned laughter way. Graham Fellows is the man who created the Shuttleworths and, presumably, wrote this book. It is a spin off from the TV series, which is in itself a spin off from the radio series'. Many handy tips for achieving stardom, from two men who still think that bum bags are the height of fashion are contained within. But the problem is that since it is a radio creation, it doesn't transfer well to the written word. I wouldn't recommend this book unless you have experienced and enjoyed either the original show or its BBC2 incarnation. The humour is difficult to appreciate at times and it is difficult to read all the way though even for the most die hard of fans. Well, I'm off to the garden centre for a campaccino, Ken...
