5.0 out of 5 stars Our most listened to album of the moment 1 Oct 2001
Format:Audio CD
We bought this on the basis of a review mentioning the irishness of the music. It is not perhaps as irish as we expected, but the music is fantastic. The music is varied and the vocals are wonderful.
We can't stop listening to it!

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent songwriting 13 Sep 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Hazel O'connor is much undervalued these days. Go see her live show if you don't believe me! This album is full of thoughtful songs. From the excellent Rebecca to the Irish lilt of Agus An bother dubh! A lot of care has gone into this record and it shows an artist in her prime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Studio Album 12 Feb 2005
Format:Audio CD
Why is this CD not on every ones iPod?
The songs are great, the band is great, the singing amazing, the lyrics are honest. Long before the flavor of the day there was Hazel O'Connor, a very prolific song writer, that writes from the heart, not because it is cool, but because it means something. Song writers will do well to learn there trade by listening to this CD allot. Rhythm sections will do well to buy this record to learn how to back a singer, artist of both sides of the glass will learn how to make a great studio album.
I honestly love this album, the songs are honest, impassioned, the band is amazing, Hazel is sing amazingly well, and sings with taste and style and passion, leaving you wanting more. Here is a CD of great songs performed by a great band, written by a great song writer, sung by a great singer, with feeling, and passion, what more could you ask for?
Long Live Hazel and Co.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent as ever - Hazel continues to diversify 19 Sep 1999

The latest of Hazel's masterpieces as good as ever - Her style continues to develop demonstrating her magnificent vocal range - a long way from Breaking Glass, Sons and Lovers and Cover Plus Days but still a fantastic collection of wonderful songs
3.0 out of 5 stars Soulful CD from "Breaking Glass" star 15 Jun 1999
By A Customer - Published on
Format:Audio CD
OK, so maybe this CD is not "Breaking Glass". "Breaking Glass" was such a phenomenal album that I don't know if Hazel O'Connor could repeat it. I first heard of her in 1987, seven years after, apparently, she was a star in England, so I don't really know what happened, but I surmise that she was unable to repeat the power of "Breaking Glass" and so her stardom faded. But let's get back to this CD. If you like "Breaking Glass" you're sure to like this album too. Hazel is older, maybe less angry (she's not threatening to kick anyone in the ass on this one), maybe more religious and introspective (talks to God about helping her get rid of her prejudice; in another song, says that a friend she has not seen for a while reminds her of Shirley MacLaine). I'm giving this CD three stars with the recommendation that you give it a listen; I may rate it even higher with time.
5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT SMOKEY PUNK-JAZZ!!! 9 Jan 1999
By A Customer - Published on
Format:Audio CD
Hazel O'Connor has gone from early 80's punk/new wave goddess, to dark and dreamy Cabaret-style soul singer. This current batch of songs showcases her Stevie Nicks style voice and proves how powerful and deep her introspective lyrics are. This is the perfect CD to put on and relax to -- or even to listen to on a rainy day stuck in the house. CHECK IT OUT!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Correction of mistake 23 Aug 1999
By A Customer - Published on
Format:Audio CD
Just want to correct a mistake I made in my review. I consulted the lyric sheet, and in the song "Rebecca", Hazel's friend has passed away; she has not merely not seen her for a while. Apologies to Hazel.
