Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Dungeon Hunter: Alliance is the first action RPG game for the PlayStation Vita system that immerses you in the heart of a unique online multi-player experience. Face the world of Gothicus and its hordes of creatures alone or in teams of up to 4 heroes.

Explore a superbly modeled Gothic universe over several hours of gameplay as you take on the main quest, side quests, and search for innumerable collectible items. Push evil back to the depths of hell and squash the destructive ambitions of a tyrannical Queen who was once your beloved!

Key Features:

  • A unique multi-player experience on PlayStation Network: team up online with your friends or with players across the globe! The game will adapt its difficulty to accommodate the number of players. Complete your training and climb the ranks in the online global leaderboards.
  • Fun "hack & slash" gameplay, enhanced by special controls that take advantage of the PlayStation Vita hardware: Use the touch controls to pick specific items, the back touch panel to perform special spells, and the accelerometer to counter rival curses by shaking your device.
  • A real quest to complete solo or with others, spanning over 30 levels with an immense world of dungeons, villages, and forests to explore, including areas that are randomly generated. Gothicus will never cease to amaze you!
  • All the ingredients for a great role-playing game: choose your class, optimize your hero's development by assigning experience points to the attributes of your choice, and equip your hero with the best armour thanks to the items you collect throughout your adventure.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's not that bad! 29 Feb. 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
True - this will probably end up in the bargain bin when Warrior's Lair/Ruin turns up but until then, this is OK. Price is ridiculous considering the PS3/PSN version was about a third of the cost but it's very playable hack and slash.

2.0 out of 5 stars Reasonable dungeon grinder 3 April 2012

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I have to admit that Dungeon Hunter is a guilty pleasure. I first played it on my iTouch but never really got on with the control scheme. But I persevered and eventually it became the second most played game I had. Once it came out on the PS3 I dipped in and found it to be one of those "I'll just give it ten more minutes..." and an hour later I'd finally stop. It is a very basic dungeon grinder, similar to Dungeon Siege and Diablo but with none of the depth or polish they have. But it's easy to play, and requires little effort on behalf of the player.

I got the Vita version free as part of a bundle and I have to admit it is the poor cousin to it's siblings. The graphics have taken a step backwards, becoming very muddy, compared to the PS3 version and it suffers from slow down during busy sections. And for some reason it has very long loading times which, consider the end result, are a bit of a puzzle. Considering the Vita is currently the most powerful hand held available (eclipsing even the new iPad) and it can cope with PS3 assets directly I found it a little sad that Gameloft have apparently put no effort into this version.

As such, at the current price, I can't recommend this game at all. Unless you are desperate for some dungeon grinding I'd would give this a miss and buy Super Stardust (amazingly good fun and very pretty but download only) or Uncharted: Golden Abyss (PS Vita) (how Vita games should be done) instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hack & slash funzone! 24 Feb. 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I agree with the other reviews saying that the price of the game is too much. However, it is still a fun game to play, especially co-op mode. It is NOT a direct port from the iphone version, there are many new cool features and updated graphics to enjoy.

The sounds are alot better if you use a pair of headphones, the ps vita speakers are not that great tbh. It is basically a diablo clone, which isn't a bad thing imho. Still a very fun game to play, and def worth buying if you love dungeon crawlers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun 30 July 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Dungeon Hunters is a great dungeon-crawling game in the tradition of the Diablo and Dungeon Seige series. The controls are easy to pick up and the game-play intuitive. The fairy companion whose powers can be accessed using the Vita's touchscreen capabilities is a little gimmicky and unnecessary but it in no way detracts from the gameplay - and having an "invisible" companion adds some entertaining elements to the script which is basic but good. The amount and variety of items you pick up is also large and makes looting fun and worthwhile. If you enjoy dungeon crawlers then this game is for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun hack n slash 11 April 2012
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this along with Rayman with my PS Vita, Got the game for £31, a little over priced for a standard hack and slash however i am totally addicted to it, being the HnS/RPG/Action fan i am. The graphics i feel don't utilise Vita's potential but they're still pretty good, the gameplay gets a little repetetive but the amount of weapons and armour you pick up/buy is quite something. you get 3 classes (Warrior/Rogue/Mage) with no customisation options. Overall 7/10.

4.0 out of 5 stars Underrated Gem 5 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase
Not owning a vita upon it's release here in the UK last Feb, I can imagine that a lot of people were put off by the hefty £35-£40 price tag this game came with. It's not a port of the iOS game completely, due to significantly improved graphics, better online functionality and some extra content, but it does still seem like one would be diddled after seeing this go for a few quid on the App Store.

However, for the significantly discounted price it's going at now, this Diablo-esque RPG is more than worth it. The game's generic, albeit slightly original storyline fills a hole, so to speak, but its real strengths come from the gameplay itself.

The controls are excellent, and make hacking and slashing through hordes of your typical fantasy fare an enjoyable experience. The story is relatively long, and has a lot of replay value once you take advantage of the seamless drop-in/drop-out online system. For commuters, or general hack n' slash fans, this is a well reasoned purchase, especially for just over a tenner. Besides, there's yet to be any real alternatives -YET- on the vita; so until then, go hunt some Dungeons!

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
this game is basically just a port and is being sold for the iphone for about £1 but ubisoft for some reason decided they would fleece the new vita owners by charging the full price of over £30

other developers have released games for MUCH less that are NEW games and not just ports

id avoid this game untill its in the bargin bin
