Product Description

One of the most unique pieces of modern dance music one will ever hear, LCD Soundsystem's "45:33" was originally a one-off Nike collaboration for iTunes. However, due to overwhelming demand for a proper release, the work was subsequently expanded and made available on CD and vinyl in November, 2007.

On 45:33 Remixes, segments of the record are lovingly and respectfully reinterpreted by some of dance music's most innovative players. With the remixes placed in a sequential order based on the section each artist chose to remix, the whole piece creates a perfect and refreshingly liberal interpretation of the 45:33 album. The global selection of remixers include everyone from Brookyn's Runaway and Norway's Prins Thomas to Berlin's techno technician Riley Reinhold and Paris' celebrated Pilooski.

However, nothing can compete with the special delivery that DFA got from Detroit when Theo Parrish snail-mailed his Space Cadet Remix; its legend was immense before it was even released.

...it doesn't really sound like LCD Soundsystem - so if you're new to the band this is probably not the best place to start.

Then again if you're new to the band and a lover of all things Theo Parrish, it might actually be the IDEAL place to start. Indeed, it was the presence of the Theo remix (unheard) that clinched this deal for me. And as you would expect it is excellent, but the Runaway, Prince Language and Trus'Me versions hold their own in the esteemed presence of a Detroit techno A-lister.

If anything this LP holds up better than 45: 33 which I found a bit flat in some places - maybe it's the slightly different angles taken by each of the remixers which give this one the edge. Pity that there's not more of "Someone Great" which was my favourite track from the original release - in fact one of my favourite LCD Soundsystem tracks of all.

An atypical LCD Soundsystem release, but one that makes for an innovative, entertaining and accessible techno-house listen.

LCD Soundsystem ‎– 45:33 Remixes 10 April 2014
By scoundrel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
The mixes for LCD Soundsystem's 45:33 are as varied as they are eclectic, reflecting the band itself. Runaway's mix, for instance, takes a deep house stance, with a thick beat, while Prince Language opts for a more melodic dance experience. Prins Thomas goes for longer, lower and slower cosmic disco, similar to his work with Lindstrøm, and Theo Parrish gives the track a more jazzed-up Detroitian feel. Trus'Me brings things back to present day house, and Padded Cell's percussion has a bit more tribal flair. Pilooski offers up electro-tinged tech-house that still retains plenty of funk, and Riley Reinhold lets the track twinkle into outer space. Solid versions all around, if nothing profoundly transformative.

I love LCD Sound system, so though this would be even better. I was way off. They took great original songs and trashed them. NO GOOD!
