1.5x isn't as big a difference as I thought it would be and not worth the price compared to other lenses.

Don't waste your money 13 Dec 2005
By Michael Rodriguez - Published on Amazon.com
I feel very fortunate to have purchased this used off eBay, but even getting it for half Amazon's retail price, I still feel ripped off. The 1.5x zoom is virtually indistinguishable from the zoom built into the camera.

I haven't tried the Opteka generic zoom lens for the S7000 that is 3.2x zoom. I'm curious to see if there's a noticeable improvement in zooming with it, but I'm not willing to spend more money for another sub-standard product.

In case you're like me and don't know exactly what the TL-FX9 is, it's NOT a typical lens. You can't change the zoom. Once you add this, you have to set the zoom on your camera to maximum or else you get vignetting around the edges (like when you're watching a movie and a character looks through binoculars and they show the POV from inside the binocular...that's what you get...a black circle that closes in around the edge of the your shot). This lens is essentially the same as holding a magnifying glass in front of your camera and zooming through it.

If you can get this used, at less than $80 (make sure you're getting the required Adapter Ring or else you can't even attach this lens) then it might be worth the price if getting a POINT FIVE increase in magnification is something you need.
