Product Description

What does it take to become a creative person?

Some say creativity is a talent that few people are born with. Some say it’s a skill you can develop, but only through years of practice.

They’re both wrong – and this book explains why.

You have a creative spirit. We all do. It’s our birthright. It makes us feel alive. High art – the act of actually painting a masterpiece, penning a novel or throwing a pot – are only a few of its countless expressions.

When we hold a narrow definition of what constitutes creativity, we severely limit our potential for joy and fulfillment. This is tragic. When we walk away from living a creative life because we lack the “talent” or discipline to follow through, we suffer. The world suffers.

40 Days 40 Nights charts two women as they travel through their native Britain and the French countryside on a hilarious and sometimes desperate expedition to reclaim their creativity. The prize is not something they acquire at the end, but rather discover along the way. During the journey, these two creative dreamers dismantle the blocks they’ve put firmly in place… the ones that stop them – and us – from fully experiencing their creativity.

Once they awaken this spirit, the results are nothing short of life-changing.

Are you ready to awaken yours?

5.0 out of 5 stars Missing out if you don't read this 13 Jan 2012
I've read many books to help with creative inspiration, but this one is not only inspirational but entertaining and funny too. I found myself holding back not to read the book too quickly and I didn't want the book to end. I have subsequently come back to it more than once. There is depth to the writing without it being high-brow and the description of Greek mythology was refreshing. Eleanor has obviously been on her own journey and learnt a thing or two along the way. I finished the book feeling energised and full of hope for my creative future. A must read.

4.0 out of 5 stars so enjoyable and full of meaning! 11 Jan 2012
By lisa
This is a wonderful book on so many levels. It's clearly written without being dogmatic. It's very funny but with such deep meaning! It addresses complicated matters in a way that they can easily be understood and 'bought' as a completely new way of experiencing life.

We're on the verge of something BIG in our human history and Creativity is the new fuel, the new tool but also the new goal. I've read tons of books on the Law of Attraction but this one is unique because it's written in such a brilliant way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mojo reclaimed! 4 Nov 2011
I wasn't at all sure what to expect from this book, but knowing Eleanor O'Rourke's writing from her blog I knew it was likely to be a good read. It was, a very good one. Intelligent, funny, affirming, galvanising... For me struggling to get back into a creative frame of mind and routine, it turned out to be a far more motivating book than most I've read (and like the author I've read a lot). The more I read, the better it got and the keener I became to get myself working again - which I have been (more or less consistently) ever a big thank you Eleanor...and keep on writing!!
