4:3 or 16:9?

The edition I have is letterboxed (good), but for a 4:3 screen (bad). Unless your widescreen TV will properly zoom content (and mine won't) you are left with a small picture with black to top, bottom, left and right.

Does the "collector's edition" work properly on a 16:9 screen? I am obviously fine with letterboxing to retain the whole picture.
