The 3rd birthday is a 3rd person shooter with an RPG style leveling up system. It follows the story of Aya Brea, a special agent in the CTI, as she attempts to go back in time and stop the existence of a powerful new alien race, the twisted. This has you jumping bodies all over the immediate past as you try hard to discover not only the truth about the twisted, but also the truth about your past and very existence.
Graphics - Absolutely superb, one of the best visual pieces the PSP has to offer, and what we've come to expect from Square Enix 10/10
Gameplay - 3rd person shooting lends itself well to this storyline, and the Overdive and Crossfire systems add excellent strategy and depth to the gameplay. and if it does get repetetive, you can always enter liberation form (or as we like to call it 'God Mode'. A refreshing take on shooters 9/10
Lifespan - the storyline will last you about 4 hours, but there is infinite scope to go back and unlock everything the game has to offer, which is a huge roster of ass kicking weapons and cool costumes. 7/10
The Twisted Edition -
Art Book - A rather cool collection of pictures from the game and beyond, in quite a good looking hardback book
Postcards - Beautiful high quality small prints!
The edition also contains a token for an Aya Brea Costume for Lightning in Final Fantasy Dissidia 012, which personally i found excellent.
The Scores -
3rd Birthday - 8.5/10
Twisted edition offers excellent value for money (about £2 more) 9/10
