First Sentence
Coming up with a story idea for a film is the most nebulous, ethereal, and intangible step of the entire process, while simultaneously being the most critical to the film's success and even completion. Read the first page

Highly recommended 23 April 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Based on an actual film currently in production by the author, this booktakes you step by step through the entire process of the production of itsfirst few scenes, the book is divided nicely into sections coveringconcept, modelling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting andrendering.
I was initially worried that the early 'concept' chapters would be oflittle interest to me as I really just wanted to get my hands dirty but infact they are some of the best in the book, offering great advice foranyone contemplating a short film of their own.
The provided CD is exceptional and Barrett Fox is clearly a generous man, included is every texture, scene, and audio files used for the first fewscenes of the film, which in my mind make this worth the price of the bookalone, especially useful are the profile images used for modelling thehead and clothes.
I highly recommend this book, and although I am a just a beginner I thinkit would be just as valuable to more advanced users as well.

Excellent guide 20 Feb 2011
Format:Paperback
This book helped me through some of my university projects when learning about how to rig and animate etc, its a real thorough book taking literally from concept to completion as the title says. This book was also recommended to the class by our 3d modelling tutor at the time. Don't know what i would have done without this book at that time, might have struggled through the projects. It wasn't easy learning this stuff from scratch, but if anyone is thinking of doing this, then this book is a must its excellent, one of the better purchases i have made, in this area, and maybe one of the most used books on my shelf.

*Wanted to give it a 4.5/5 not a 4/5!
