Just a word of caution on using a phone as a WiFi hotspot.
Even though you may have an "unlimited data" phone plan it might NOT include using your phone as a WiFi hotspot or tether.
I tried using my partners HTC Wildfire S as a hotspot, the HTC and Momo connected easily but the HTC wouldn't allow internet access. My partner has an "unlimited data" plan with Orange. We checked and he needs an "add on", which you have to pay for, to make it work.
I've had a general look around at a number of phone plans and it seems only the higher priced "all you can eat data" plans include Wifi hotspot or tethering.
can you tell me if the tablet works with a Three broadband sim? I have 2 huwai dongles I can try but cant remember the models. not a problem if it will work on the sim, I will just buy the correct dongle!
I had a dongle the K4505 == E182E, then the K3772-Z == (???) -- neither work with the momo8 but both work with laptop. There is a slim possibility that there could be something wrong with the momo8 ....
When I connect the dongle I get an error messages:- a. "Damaged USB storage" b. "removed USB storage"
The dongles flash, so they are getting power but not full communication.
Any additional assistance will be greatly appreciated.
1. I believe that GTR is now selling one of the accredited dongles at a reasonable price - I have tried two UK Dongles, not listed, and they do not work with the Tablet - I thought it may have been additional power consumption, but I now have a powered USB 2.0 Hub, which I can now connect older external USB Hard-Drives and play movies and pictures, but the 3G sticks still do not work
2. I have gone down the route of getting a MIFI device, '3G in WiFi' out, there are many combinations out there ... - There is a TP-Link 3G TL-703N, with a Chinese interface .... life is never easy [Great Price & delivery ...] - Following some searches on the Web and the supplier, I actually both my 3G Sticks as Wifi Access Points - Buyers be aware and read other buyers comments on these sites
3. It would have been nice to have the Tablet have an option for a SIM slot, but very few Android v4.0.x have these - some do exist. - many more of the Android 2.3.x have the SIM Slot and phone features but few have the screen resolution of the Momo Bird
If wishes were horses, beggars would ride ... and I would have the 8" Tablet of my dreams ...
Just to congratulate Gary and other contributors for making this Forum a truly wonderful site for support and ideas, and it gives us hope for fixes and just to know that any questions we have will get a response and not having to sit "alone" with a problem not knowing where to get assistance.
I know i maybe thick but can you tell me if theres a dongle you can buy that will pick up 3g for free with out having to have a pay as you go sim card? I tried hooking up my phone but there seems to be a fault on the phone.
