Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Whether you're starting with an empty plot, or simply want to try out new planting ideas, Geoff Hamilton's 3D Garden Designer is the perfect tool. Start with a plan view, add patios, fencing and other structures, and then use the Plant Filter and Encyclopedia to find plants to suit your garden.

As you're putting together your designs, you can experiment by moving plants and fixtures around the screen, scaling or rotating objects, or zooming in on borders to arrange your chosen flowers. Once you're happy with your design, view your garden in 3D to see how it will look and check for year-round colour.

First of all, it's important to note that Geoff Hamilton had anything to do with the development of this software. They are exploiting the memory of this much loved man. See the unbias review in Computer Active March 2006. I wish I had read it before I bought this package.
I discovered the three Cd's have been out for year and now sold as a bundle. I see from reviews that they were no good when they first came out years ago and they are certainly no good now.
The layouts are very dull. The single images are a very poor quality, the plant info is limited. The CD's are uninspiring, confusing, and laborious leaving you frustrated. You will not be able to design a garden with the 3D design CD but it is a fun CD for Children to play with. The encyclopedia has zones, and many of the plants are from America (where I suspect is where the software originates) and the CD does not include many British plants rendering it pretty useless.
The CD's have to be downloaded which takes a lot of hard drive memory and will make your computer run slowly. I then had real problems removing the Cd's from the hard drive. aaagh!
This package is now in the bin as my conscience would not allow me to give it away.

Poor quality software 26 Mar 2006
    By A Customer
The software is generally difficult to use and the manual is not much help. However, my biggest annoyance is that, having spent at least 5 hours working it out and putting in my garden design the whole system crashed and NOTHING i did helped. I have uninstalled and re-installed it twice and windows still does not want to know. I am a software professional. If I can design and write code that does not fail this catastrophically why can't the vendors of this?

    Don't bother! 21 Mar 2006
I am a mad gardener and competent computer user, but this CDrom is way beyond my skills - it's rubbish!!! It was a present from my parents and I cannot bring myself to chuck it (but I want to!). Very frustrating and user unfriendly. BOOO!
