2.0 out of 5 stars Unmemorable 26 April 2013

Among other books I read a few weeks ago, I found this rather short story pretty unmemorable and uninspiring. On the other hand this can't be said for another book I read at about the same time, Before I Go To Sleep by S J Watson which was completely enthralling and which I still find myself thinking about. I believe that really says it all, if a book cannot be easily recalled then it can't have been particularly good. Having said that I don't intend reading any more from this author.

I have to ask: why? Why write such an uninteresting tale when, judging by the writing style, the author could do MUCH better. Bill Franks ([...])

5.0 out of 5 stars A Solid Psychological Thriller 14 July 2011

I ordered this story after really enjoying the horror story "Sugar Daddy" by the same author. While not horror, "Jeremy's Loss" is no less suspenseful. I am more of a horror fan at heart, but found this psycholigcal thriller very entertaining with a twist ending that was both shocking yet kind of sad. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars " Excellent .....Psychological......... Thriller" 27 Dec. 2012

This is another excellent short psychological thriller..The author creates a situation that is terrifying and hang on the edge of your seat..It gives you a sense of panic all the way to the twisted, shocking ending.....

Jeremy is in the process of grieving over the death of his mother when he meets a stranger Bret Fallon..This mysterious man claims to be an ex-patient who tells Jeremy his mother was murdered for knowing to much..Expecially, the governmental experiments being performed on patients.....

Is this a conspiracy, paranoia, break in psyche or is this man telling Jeremy the truth..

Jeremy's spoken and now we will listen...

5.0 out of 5 stars Things are not always as they appear to be 22 Sept. 2012
By J. Chambers - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Jeff Menapace set the bar very high with his marvelous paranormal horror thriller "Sugar Daddy," but he's followed that success with several other stories that are equally imaginative. Some of his stories involve supernatural or paranormal horror, while others are about the horrors that humans are capable of inflicting on others. "Jeremy's Loss" is one of the latter. When a mysterious figure named Fallon informs a grieving Jeremy that his mother's death in a car accident was no accident, but that she was murdered, it starts a chain of events where Jeremy and his newfound ally Fallon are bent on revenge and their own self-preservation. The story proceeds along at a brisk pace, leading to a dramatic climax, followed by a startling revelation. To say any more about the story would be a spoiler, but suffice to say that things are not always as they appear to be.

"Jeremy's Loss" was a taut, suspenseful thriller that hooked me in the first paragraph and never let go.
