CPR for Your Desktop - Copy, Print and Rip!,

This is a great DVDRW which came with all the bits you needs i.e. screws and SATA data cable, so there should be NO NEED TO BUY ANY EXTRA CABLING KIT!
(Remember this device is for computers using the SATA interface rather than the IDE interface!) This a second drive for a new PC and performs as well as the primary drive. It's fast, reliable and great for ripping audio CDs. I have used this on the same computer under both Windows Vista and then Windows 7 operating systems. I haven't used the LightScribe function yet but it's a great feature to have, no need for messy CD labels! (Remember you will need blank Lightscribe CDs/DVDs to use this particular feature).

Great disc drive,

Bought this to install in a HP pavilion desktop running Windows 7, for the purpose of copying discs (legally, of course). Upgrade went well, a Sata data cable is included but if your motherboard has the 4 pin power outputs near the disc drive bay, you will need a Molex to Sata converter - I bought the one listed in "People buy this item with.." and have had no problems.
Screws are included but these were not required with my desktop as the locking mechanism keeps the disc drive in position safely. The drive comes with Nero Essentials 8 which is a fairly decent package for free but you can of course use your own, my computer already came bundled with some CyberLink software which does pretty much the same job as Nero. The disc drive was instantly recognized using Windows 7 Home Premium and was mapped correctly in "Computer". It works well at a max speed of 24x and is fairly quiet in operation - certainly nothing to worry about. I'm sure it will remain reliable in years to come and at this price it represents excellent value - highly recommended.

What's great about it: Worked perfectly first time
What's not so great: it's a bit loud "Starting up a new MB with Windows 7 and needed to get the DVD drive off the PATA bus as the old one was conflicting with the hard drive. This SATA HP DVD Writer worked very well from the git go and solved the problem. It appears fast and capable.
