This book is a classic! 24 Mar. 2014

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is about much more than golf. It is about comradre among golfers, it is about golfing on city public courses, it is about genuine guys. Behind the jocular swagger of the guys gathering almost daily to gamble and golf, Younkers reveals vulnerable guys stoically facing the challenges of life. You get to know and like and pull for almost all of them. Younker's descriptions are vivid whether of a guy pulling off a miracle shot, a guy kicking himself for hooking a drive, or a guy sharing angst over problems with a son. You will appreciate the view of life on city public golf courses whether or not you live in Chicago and have played Younker's courses, Black, Billy Caldwell, Waveland (Sydney R Marovitz), and Peter Jans. If you have played them, you will treasure this book. I rarely read a book twice, but this week I'm going to sit back and enjoy Skinfolk one more time..

reading parts of this fictional book I almost threw my laptop at the wall! I am the Sue rich refers to in the book I gave him the idea to write. I feel that if you are going to write a non-fiction book then you better dam well get the facts right. I left my ex-husband cliff because of things I didn't think were anyone's business. Rich get the story right next time, Sue
P.S I kicked rich's' ass in the skins game :}
