I bought this book as a novice therapist, wanting something to use that is practical and straight forward. The fact that the book is written from a patients' and clinicians' viewpoint add value to it. I especially like the fact that family involvement is discussed in detail and healthy and unhealthy support are highlighted. Reassurance which often colludes with OCD is also discussed in a gentle and compassionate way - including tips of how to reduce unhealthy ways of support. Also valuable is the chapter on mindfulness. It is one of the few books discussing religious scruples and choosing the right therapist. I would recommend it for therapists and clients.

I highly recommend this book to anyone suffering from OCD. This book covers all grounds, with detailed case studies from other sufferers. It introduces the different ways that OCD manifests itself, with a break down of the different and varied symptoms. You get the information about OCD that you need to understand your condition more before you begin to work on making yourself better. The tasks it provides to give you the tools to tackle your OCD are perfect, and there are many options to go for so everyone will find something that will help them.
It also includes sections for family/friends/spouses to understand what you're going through and how to help you.
My one note would be that you NEED to invest the time and the effort, it's well worth it in the long run!

Really good book and I would highly recommend it to people who suffer with OCD and their families. It is very well explained and broken down into easy to understand chapters. I use this book at a group for OCD sufferers and their families and people say that it does help them to manage their OCD and helps families to help themselves and their loved ones with OCD. I would definitely recommend this book and also recommend the seller as the book was in excellent condition as described and arrived well on time thank you.
