Most Helpful Customer Reviews

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful By Thusmagazine on 19 Jan. 2012
Format: Kindle Edition
Stephen Tombley has written, in entertaining documentary style, a fast-moving and chock-full-of-nuts précis of the history of western ideas. This is NOT a trivial achievement. A brilliant and surprising must-have in any Kindle library, and exceptional value. History of Ideas meets Rock and Roll. Highly recommended.

Trombley's overview is precise and (generally) accessible to the lay reader. He charts the history of thought by drawing clear threads across ages and between disciplines. An excellent introduction, if one remembers that the map is not the territory.
