The second in the series, this book concentrates on Aiden Forsyth and the lady that can free him, Lauren Cole. There is less in this book about the K'vr but then they have had a full introduction in the first book. They are, however, still interfering and trying to gain possession of Rogan's artifacts.

Ben and Cat make a reappearance, as does Paschal, but Alexa and Damon are only mentioned briefly. There is still a lot of hot action going on only this time you have Hollywood thrown in the mix too.

A very good second book that will leave you wanting the rest of the series.

Sexy paranormal adventure with an intriguing mystery 2 Oct. 2012
By Phyllis Towzey - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This is the second book in Julie Leto's Forsyth Phantoms series, and although it can certainly stand alone, in my opinion you can better appreciate the intricacies of the plot as well as several returning characters if you've read the first book - Phantom Pleasures. This contemporary romantic paranormal adventure series is about six brothers from the mid-1700s in England who tried to rescue their sister from an evil sorcerer, Lord Rogan, who had betrayed their family and the enclave of gypsies that were under the protection of their father, an English nobleman. Each brother is trapped in an item - in this book a sword with a jeweled hilt - that is also imbued with some of the dark lord's magic. The woman who can release the man trapped in the item is inexplicably draw to it, and when they come into physical contact with it the Forsyth brother is partially released, existing in a phantom state during the days and taking physical form only at night.

The quest in each book is for the hero to be fully released from the spell, the romantic conflict to be resolved, and the hero and heroine to get closer to finding the items where the remaining brothers are imprisoned and discovering the fate of not only their sister but also the entire village of gypsies that mysteriously disappeared just as King George's soldiers were advancing to slaughter them more than 250 years ago. Each, however, has a formidable adversary in the followers of K'vr, a secret organization of the descendants and worshipers of Lord Rogan, who are trying to exploit his dark magic for their own means and seeking the very items in which the Forsyth brothers' spirits are imprisoned as the keys to unlock Lord Rogan's powers.

In Phantom's Touch, Aidan Forsyth is released from the sword by movie star Lauren Cole, a woman with a mysterious past and her own "demons" to conquer before she can trust herself to fall in love. Lauren Cole is an actress who plays an action-adventure heroine in the movies (think female warrior), and her real-life skills are impressive. She is a strong heroine who knows what she wants. Aidan is an 18th century man adapting to a world he could never have imagined. Leto very skillfully uses the magic elements of this book while still keeping the action - and many of the dangers - firmly grounded in reality. This is an exciting adventure tale with new twists and turns that will keep you from putting the book down. It's also a very sensuous story, and Leto uses the phantom's daytime ability to touch while remaining in his noncorporeal form to stretch sexual tension to the breaking point. The balance between the challenges facing the characters in this book and the overall quest of the series is perfect - this book standing alone is a very satisfying read, that still leaves you intrigued by the overall story and wanting to know the rest of the unanswered questions. I give this book my highest recommendation.

Phantom's Touch 29 Sept. 2012

Wow,usually I read a book series because I fall in love with the characters and want to keep reading about them...not so with this series! This second book, like the first, gives a reader the desire to not only learn about the fate of other characters but to get to know those characters as well. Another page turner that I couldn't put down! This is an author to be added to the "favorites list" or the "I can't wait for her next book list"!

excellent urban romantic fantasy 4 Dec. 2008
By Harriet Klausner - Published on
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Action movie star Lauren Cole wants to be taken seriously as an actress, but is contractually trapped to perform one more thriller as Athena for her ex-husband Ross. She is especially angry with her former spouse because he refused to give her an antique sword he purchased in Germany for her. Lauren steals the weapon.

As Lauren practices with the ancient sword, she liberates warrior Aiden Forsyth from his entrapment inside the weapon. However to his disappointment he is not totally free of the curse that first incarcerated him in 1747 when he tried to rescue his sister from gypsy abduction; he remains a phantom during the day but a human able touch others at night. Neither is prepared for unknown adversaries to covet her sword and attempt to murder those in possession of it.

The second Phantom urban romantic fantasy (see PHANTOM PLEASURES) is an engaging tale in which Hollywood collides with real magic. The story line is fast-paced and filled with action as Lauren tries to prove her skills on the silver screen are genuine in real life. Readers will relish Julie Leto's outstanding touch; especially with a bewildered Aiden. He struggles with understanding a world that makes no sense as he has seen moving pictures of Lauren in action performing incredible feats of daring do that he could never do; yet though competent she is nowhere near that super level of expertise. This is a exhilarating paranormal thriller starring a strong lead couple and a diabolically vile villain.

Great characters in a terrific story 15 Feb. 2009

I really liked the first book in this series, but this one solidified me as a Julie Leto fan. A perfect mix of light paranormal and steamy sex, I was especially taken with these two characters. Don't normally love an actress heroine, but Ms. Leto handled her with a deft touch, and Aiden is the perfect hero - sexy and protective. Am definitely looking for more in this series!

Cursed hero imprisoned in ancient sword, sexy and magical 2 Dec. 2008

Phantom's Touch by Julie Leto
Paranormal Romance Mass Market Paperback - December 2nd, 2008
4 stars

What would you do if the ancient sword you coveted was magically enchanted? What if, by possessing the sword, the man of your dreams would come to you at night and fulfill your darkest fantasies? Phantom's Touch is an amazing tale by Julie Leto filled with magic, sensuality and sizzling tension.

Lauren Cole has decided to celebrate her divorce by stealing the prized sword her ex-husband had purchased for her but never let her keep. Gleeful at her rightful possession, she soon discovers it has a secret meant only for her. That night a mysterious man suddenly appears and gives her the hottest night of her life, only to disappear in the morning. Was he real or a figment of her imagination?

Aiden has been ensnared in the enchanted sword for centuries. Cursed by an evil sorcerer, he has watched Lauren from afar knowing she is the only one who can set him free. When he is finally released from his prison, he realizes his physical form is only free during the night. In the day, Aiden is trapped within the weapon, his magical powers minimized, existing as a phantom instead of a man. In quest of Aiden's freedom, Lauren and he must dispel the power of the sword. However, there are those who ruthlessly seek the sorcerer's dark magic for themselves.

Phantom's Touch is the second in the series by Julie Leto. Each book features a brother who had been imprisoned in their attempt to save their sister from the sorcerer's clutches. It was fascinating to read how each brother is trapped and how they make their escape. Aiden's character was particularly captivating. As a military man he is aggressive, and he know what he wants, but he is also caring and protective of Lauren. I loved that Lauren and Aiden were instantly drawn to each other. Even before she knew his essence was part of the sword, she desired the object, somehow sensing their connection. Julie Leto skillfully brings to life her main characters, but she also has immensely appealing secondary characters. The Rousseau males are particularly attractive. There should be a separate book for each of them! Their short scenes and few appearances were not enough to keep me satisfied. I can't wait for the third in the series.
