Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
My sons (1 and 3) both love Brio trains and have spent more time on them than any other toy however we only had this train for a while before it started sliding on the tracks when it goes up hills and bridges. Not sure what happened, maybe the outer rubber wore off? Now it slides until another four wheel drive train to push it up!
I suggest you buy one of the more powerful trains.

Very poor toy 2 April 2010
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
The description of this toy says "Wooden Railway System" however it's almost entirely made from poor quality plastic - there is absolutely no wood in this product whatsoever. It takes one AAA battery which lasts a very short amount of time. The locomotive is incapable of climbing even very shallow inclines - so no fun with going up over bridges etc. The "Brio" logo on the train is a cheap sticker and will most probably fall off. All in all a very poor offering. It has a cheap feel, eats batteries and performance is very poor, oh yeah and it's not made from wood. Stay away.......

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
My 2 year old plays with his train set a lot and this little train has lasted through nearly a year of fairly consistant abuse and is still living to tell the tale. It doesn't go very fast but is somewhat hypnotic as it chugs round the track (and quite a bit off it as well). Takes one AAA battery and uses it quite fast - rechargeable ones work great for us.

Good, but fiddly switch
My nearly 3 year old has really enjoyed playing with this train. It is pretty strong and can pull additional carriages/trains from other railway sets, even up the incline to a... Read more

My first son (now almost 16 years old) had brio when he was younger and we still have the sets he had which we are now using with my 3.5 year old. Read more

Too fiddly, too small, switch not fir for kids
It's cute and my nephew liked it, but... Too small - this is a tiny train. If you put it in reverse the magnets will not hold the trains and it will break up to 3 pieces. Read more

Good but impractical for little hands
My son is 3 and really loves this train- it is great as the concrete mixer moves round and the coal truck chugs from side-to-side as the train moves along. Read more

surprisingly fun
We got this as an afterthought, because it was relatively cheap, but our 3 year old is enchanted with it and spends ages running the trains past it again and again.
