Product Description

Product Description

Containing 31 stories written in the 31 days of January 2011, this collection of flash-fictions spans a wide range of genres and styles: from science-fiction to an unconventional love story, from pulp noir to the apocalypse, from magical realism to the magic of life.

"There’s a surreal fantasy about a town struck by an attack of metaphors, a futuristic investigation into prosthetic noses, and a poignant contemplation on holding hands. Calum Kerr’s flash fictions are funny and moving and leap off the page with all the immediacy and urgency with which they were written."
- David Gaffney, author of The Half Life of Songs

"Such a treat... I was reading it thinking ah, so this is what good flash fiction is like. These should have won prizes and been lauded to the skies... The best and most energetic book of flash I've read for aeons!"
- Cathy Bryant, author of Contains Strong Language and Scenes of a Sexual Nature

Calum Kerr is the director of National Flash-Fiction Day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic and varied set of stories 10 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This popped up as a suggestion from Amazon, and I am so pleased that I followed it through - a really fantastic set of stories, covering a wide range of genres. Short story writing is very different to just writing a short novel, and this writer has got it absolutely right every time - don't hesitate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bite Size Fiction for a Busy World 21 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Admit it, you bought a Kindle, Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display because you don't have time to carry a load of books around with you. And you carry it with you because you want to read ALL THE TIME.

But you don't always have the time to read a novella, or a few pages of a story, and the small spots during the day when you get a moment to read are spent mostly trying to work out where all the characters are, what they're doing and where the plot's at.

Enter flash-fiction. The shortest of short-stories for your lunch break, morning coffee, the commute to work, or even just those precious seconds where the boss' back is turned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect prose from the king of flash 4 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I knew that Calum Kerr ran National Flash Fiction Day so I thought he'd probably be pretty good, and I wasn't disappointed. Innovative, exciting yet always clear, the stories range in subject but often stray towards the dark edges of life, and are none the worse for that. A snip at the price.
