To get such a combined amount of wisdom and experience, and put it all together into one book, is quite a feat. But I'm glad it was done. I really enjoyed this book.

Even better, I gained some valuable life wisdom from it. As well as writing about the wisdom of life lived, the book contains lots of direct quotations from people who have lived life to the full. And it's not just success stuff; there's so much to learn from people's mistakes too.

Very well written - and highly recommended.

I liked the idea of interviewing elders on a number of subjects and asking them what valuable lessons they had learnt during their lives. In a world full of inconsistencies, this book is very consistent with its good feel message and its golden rule which is...well, I would not want to spoil for the author. Just buy the book, it will not disappoint.
I would like to see a similar book, however, giving a European perspective and I wonder if the conclusions would be the same.
A good piece of work which gave me many pleasurable moments with some of the heart rending stories within it.

Message of the book isn't that far from regular self-help books - but as the message comes from old people - it has some extra value and some messages that especially young people should think about.

Great read - can fully recommend.

Wise, calm, patient, considered. This book is rigorously researched, and beautifully assembled. The life experiences of many American elders, who survived the Depression, and their tips on parenting, marriage and love. It will change the way you think and love.

I've read a few self-help books recently but this really is a truly amazing read - even for a young 23 year old such as myself.

What better way of receiving lessons for living but from people who have experienced life's greatest challenges themselves?

Unlike many other books clouded in religious beliefs this is easy to read and extremely well written.

Thank you Karl for your inspiration!
