I bought this item for someone who is learning about electrics and electronics; I thought it would be something that would gel his reading into practical learning, such as recognising the component names and their functions. This was not bought as a toy but as a learning aid. It is very basic as was the intention - and gave fun things to create to see how it all works. The idea was to provide fun in the learning without being embarrassingly simple. The purchase succeeded in its intent.

This is so much more than a toy in the hands of a bright and eager child. My six-year-old grandson found this his favorite Christmas present. He built many different devices, each with a particular principle to teach. He then quickly expanded his efforts using alligator clips to attach the devices in this kit to other toys and electronics. It seems to be well made, though time will tell how truly durable it is. While this is fun in just a gee-whiz mode, it is especially valuable for a child who is seriously interested in science and desires to learn the fundamentals of electronics.
