I downloaded this book as it was billed as crime fiction. And the the book does have a modicum of suspense, which sadly never ever goes anywhere, apart from diverting into a pathetic attempt at E L James style romantic/titillation fiction. The only thing that kept me reading this drivel was the hope that the story would eventually go somewhere... And then when something finally does happen, on the last pages of the book, you are told you need to read a second book for the rest of the story. The follow up book to this free download, of course, is charged for. It's a nasty form of bait and switch, and I certainly won't be buying the second book. It was painful enough getting through this one. Frankly, I should charge the author for wasting my time!

I felt a bit conned at the end of the book and was told to read the next instalment in another book .

What a great story I cannot wait to get book 2 to find out what happens next. This tells the story of a woman in a loveless marriage who suffers abuse at her husbands hands. He then has her committed she escapes and starts to live a full life. Then she is caught and that is where this book ends

This review is posted for both books in the "series", as it should have been one book.
I don't know where to start really...I'm so beyond disappointed it's hard to put it in order.
I read my first K Larsen book, (Jezebel), a few days ago, and as per my review, I was blown away by it and went on a mission to find more of her work. Whilst I appreciate that this one was written a couple of years ago, I can't get over the contrast in quality of writing...so much so that I almost don't believe they're by the same author.
The start of the first book was promising, the main protagonist's escape and the well written intensity of feeling was spot on and I thought I was in for another treat from this author. Then the niggles started...the basics such as the wrong use of too/to started to irritate me. I could have lived with this and have done previously, when the story line has been good enough to override any little editing/grammatical errors. Then I started noticing overuse of words such as "chortle", "chuckle" and "snicker"...not my favourite words anyway so when they were used too many times I started to cringe...again, just a minor irritant so far. Then the repetition of them looking into each others eyes and what became the long, drawn out and boring process of completing "the list", had me skim reading and wondering when it was going to get to the point. Towards the end of the 1st "book", and from there on in, the change from past to present tense, sometimes on the same page didn't quell my irritation levels. Then the ending and subsequent "sequel" This for me was the final straw.

Read about 5 chapters last night - really disapointed. This lady needs lessons in book writing.
Also,if you are going to use lyrics from a Kate Nash song,at least make it look like you are quoting a song,
rather than throwing it in like you wrote those words.
Won`t be finishing it-even though it`s free,it is awful reading.

I should have paid attention to the revues of this book and on principle I will not buy the second book - as one reviewer commented you can figure out the ending without bothering to read more of the drivel between Elle and Colin. It is unfortunate because the premise of the book was a good one, but the construction failed to deliver.

Started off quite well but soon became very boring and Mills & Boon type story. Be prepared at the end as you need to buy the next book to know what happens. Personally I don't care so won't be buying the next. Think I could probably write the next book myself.

Couldn't finish this book. I can see why it was free. Sadly i couldn't get past the pages of tedious gazing into hazel orbs type rubbish. I ordered it as a crime novel so maybe it's my fault ... I wasn't expecting a mills and boon type romance.
