Is this compatible with a Sammie N130 and will it help to smooth jerky video?

But no, it will hardly make a difference to jerky video playback. Assuming the video itself is OK, and you haven't got camera shake I think it better to try a different software player. Have you tried vlc? Its a free software download.

Thanks Supercooper. I did start using VLC a few months ago and although it doesn't eliminate the problem completely, it now happens less often - thanks - PD
