5.0 out of 5 stars Low gravity, ground pounding fun! 26 Oct. 2014
By Jamie

Another highly commended installment of the Borderland Series, this takes place between the two previous installments where you are essentially the right-hand man (or woman) of Handsome Jack, the villain from Borderlands 2. As with the other installments, the game doesn't take itself too seriously and provides some humorous moments.

The game differs from the previous installments not only with new story and classes, but new vehicles and a low gravity atmosphere that adds a new dynamic to combat. As the game takes place on a moon you are required to monitor your oxygen levels and can use some oxygen to perform boosted jumps and ground pounds (butt stomp?) to stun and damage enemies within the radius.

There are currently 4 classes, each with 3 skills trees to customise your Vault Hunter, and with my limited time (20hours) playing the game so far, I have to say each class does seem very enjoyable and versatile, with my personal favourite being the Lawbringer.

In my opinion this is a game that benefits most from playing with people online, preferably people that you know and using teamwork to take on the various challenges that await. the online/multiplayer supports drop in/drop out so no downtime if someone needs to leave!

Whilst i would highly recommend this purchase my only criticism would be that the environments all seem to be very similar and at times I do find myself missing grass and other greenery found in other installments, though this may change as the story progresses.

If you have a few friends this is certainly worth a purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great - will not let you down 17 Oct. 2014

This is another fantastic game from the Borderlands series. I loved the first two but this really does not go below the excellent level that they have set for the shoot'n'loot genre. I will not make this review very long just yet as I am eager to get back to playing (seriously - I don't mean that as a cliche).

The graphics are amazing. Everything from environments, locations seen far away to enemies as well as graphics for the weapons looks really great and above all very cool! Definitely no complaints on that front.

The gameplay itself is excellent as usual. The general idea does not differ from Borderlands 2 that much but there are noticeable differences that do impact gameplay - the low gravity, O2, new characters and their new skills being just a few examples.

As to the story - it does keep you engaged. But above all, from the first minute onwards I have found myself laughing very often because the dialogues and some events in this game are simply hilarious in a very good way. I heard some people saying 'Meh, it will just be a large DLC, same thing, boring' but anyone with that mindset is definitely very wrong.

It has been some time since I managed to find a game that genuinely sucked me in and I kept playing having no idea of what was happening around me - 5 hours straight for a start and I only stopped to go to work (although it was tempting to call in 'sick'...).

I can't help myself with this little dig but this is everything Destiny should have been...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Fun Fun! 18 Oct. 2014

I was a late starter on the Borderlands series. I didn't think it would be my cup of tea. How wrong I was! Other games have paled in comparison. The first episode was superb. The second was even better. I am ashamed to admit I have played over 250 hours on B2. I have had a few hours playing this third outing and it looks just as much fun.

The new game adds low gravity, need for oxygen and new special abilities (Claptrap's is funny and amazing). Needless to say, it also has "gazillions" of weapons, including a new laser type. Old Borderlands players will be pleased to hear that special abilities now start at Level 3.

Old Borderlands players will also find it odd to be playing on "the other side".

All Borderlands games are tongue-in-cheek and this is no exception. The dialogue is full of jokes and the bosses have funny names.

As before, it can be played as single player or as a co-op multiplayer. It's fun as single player but it's a blast as multiplayer.

I find most multiplayer games irritating. They are full of fan boys who spend their whole time moaning and calling each other "Noobs". The Borderland community is totally different. Almost everybody (from all nations) is friendly and helpful. I have never heard anybody insult another player. There is nothing like reviving a team mate under fire to forge friendships. Some even gift powerful weapons to each other. It's nice to make friends and join them in battles whenever you see they are about.

It's expensive at the moment but I expect to play for hours and hours. Of course, I'll still play Borderlands 2...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just like the previous ones 14 Nov. 2014
Platform for Display:PC| Edition:Base Game|Verified Purchase
Just like the previous ones.
The low gravity doesn't add a lot of fun and there's even more walking than before.

The new lasers are cool. The grinder is also fairly awesome as it allows you to reuse old equipment, but it's a bit quirky.
I haven't tried all the new skill trees but so far they didn't impress me in any way.

The borderlands presequel was a very good addition to the arsenal of 2K games, very unique gameplay and kept the essence of the 'borderlands' saga. Still I found this game very short and more of a 'filler' rather than an actual fully-sized borderlands with little change to graphics.

Loved it. Service was easy and on time, and the game itself was fabulous. Surprisingly good story, and a lot of fun, as all Borderlands games are.
