Return of the 28 world 4 April 2010
Format:Hardcover
I was looking forward to this book to see where they would go with the character of Selena & how it fit into the 28 mythos. I thought this book was a good set up for the series but it was just a bit too short. For a hardcover I expected more than just 4 regular issues. The ending probably is a natural end point for "chapter 1" but it just fell a bit unsatisfying. The appetite was wetted for more. The plotline is standard issue & moves along at a nice speed. There's plenty of zombie terror and one particularly good scene. The new characters in it are ok and serve a purpose but there's no attempt to develop them other than one or two of them. Hirsch is a particularly annoying character because he keeps getting in trouble. As of yet there is no mention of what happened to Jim or Hannah other than they are called "The Manchester Three". I'm interested to see what way they go with that and what ending of the original film they continue on from. Overall its a good start to the series and I'll be getting the next volume.

This is the first in a series of 6 collections of comics that attempt to bridge the gap between the '28 Days Later' and '28 Weeks Later' films. I haven't read the other issues (yet) so I don't know if there are further books planned.

The story follows Selena from the original film, after she is approached in a refugee camp in Norway by a team of journalists. They want to go to the UK and explore infected territory, beyond the area protected by the US/NATO military (as shown in '28 Days Later') and want her to act as a guide. As you might expect, this turns out to be a bad idea.

This book is clearly the first part of a series as there is a natural break in the story at the end, but it certainly isn't a conclusion. The story is good and made me keep turning the pages, and the artwork is adequate. I particularly liked the way that Selena's backstory is developed, and the way in which the universe shown in the films is expanded. This is a much better attempt than the graphic novel '28 Days Later: The Aftermath', and I'll probably be buying the other 5 issues on the strength of the first one.

Fantastic comic book 11 Aug 2011
By Victor
Format:Paperback
Its essence is quite different to 28 Days Later, of course, cause Boyle didn't make the comic. But it still is great, really solid. The art is fine (I prefer the one from the second volume) and fits the mood, and the story is well written.

I enjoyed it a lot, definitely worth the money. As others have stated, the only problem is that it is a bit short, but I guess that if we think that is because we want more of this!
