More About the Author

I live in Scotland, on the edge of the Highlands. Over the years I've written fiction for children, young adults and adults. My two most recent novels, THE WITNESS and THE RECKONING, were both shortlisted for the Royal Mail Scottish Children's Book of the Year Award (in 2008 and 2009 respectively). A third young adult title, THE ARTEFACT, is currently (September 2011) nearing completion.

One of the best things in my writing life is being on the board of the Edinburgh International Book Festival (the world's largest). Every August I charge my batteries in the company of nearly 800 other writers, in the magical tented village that springs up in Edinburgh's Charlotte Square. I also work in the business world as a writer, trainer and coach, and write business books as JAMIE JAUNCEY. The most recent is ROOM 121: a masterclass in writing and communication for business, co-authored with John Simmons. When I'm not writing or training I play the piano with various Scottish musicians and bands.
