In a word: wow. This book is phenomenal. As an obsessed fan of 24, I knew I wanted to read this book, and was thrilled by how good it was.

Very simply put, it's an episode guide to Season One of the hit American real-time thriller. There are a number of these types of book around. What makes this different is that it is the only official one, and as a result, it goes way deeper than any of the others. At times, it's like an engaging reference guide to the characters and events of 24's first day, containing profiles of the major players and a lot of back story that we'll probably never see in the series. All the events are told in first person by the characters themselves, and the book is so well written that you can really believe that this is how the characters would speak and act. At times, you have to remind yourself that it's just a TV show!

As well as a detailed, up-close-and-personal retelling of the day's events, there is also a fascinating section about the infamous Operation Nightfall, which, as all fans will know, was the major trigger for the events of that longest day. Besides this, there are pictures, some subtle in-jokes, and tonnes of detail. And there's an excellent lead-in to Season Two!

Give in to the ever-ticking clock - if you want a book on 24, this is it.

Great Stuff Dammit!!! 20 Jun 2004
Format:Paperback
This book is the most detailed description of the chain of events of season one available today. There are profiles of each character and a detailed report on 'Operation Nightfall', which fills the reader in completely. I think Kiefer Sutherland is made to play the role of Jack Bauer, and this report fulfills his character's requirements perfectly. Excellent stuff!!!!

If you loved 24 ... 30 May 2006

... then you will love this book! I felt really absorbed 24, and this book makes it seem even more real. It's laid out a bit like a scrapbook, which is cool. Good for just flicking through, or equally absorbing yourself with it for hours.
